Got my subframe connectors! December 24, 2005, 02:31:33 PM Not sure if any of you other guys have ordered these, but I got my subframes yesterday that I ordered off 40bob's website (they're actually made by a guy right here in WV). For $65 shipped, these things are pretty nice. They're straight box tubing (not curved like the ones on the website, those are the mustang ones) and they come with reinforcing plates and even have caps welded over the ends and everything, and feel pretty stout.Unfortunately they don't come with the seat braces, but you can buy those from a couple other companies (assuming that mustang seat braces work anyway) Quote Selected

Got my subframe connectors! Reply #3 – December 24, 2005, 11:29:03 PM pics? i've been thinking of ordering some from bob or stinger. both are cheaper than mm. i think they are slightly overpriced but you do get quality work. Quote Selected
Got my subframe connectors! Reply #4 – December 24, 2005, 11:39:39 PM Not much to show pics of really...they're just straight 1"x2" (I think) box tubing about 4' long...and the front cap is angled like pretty much all other subframe connectors I've seen. They're bare steel, BTW.I won't dispute that MM makes quality stuff (I'm planning on getting one of their STB's and 2-point k-member braces), but yeah...their thunderbird subframes are $80 and they don't come with seat braces either. I can't imagine they're THAT much better than these ones...I mean these things are stout! Plus I'm all about supporting the little guy :) I do like the fact that these ones came with the reinforcing plates- years ago I got some "cheap" ($60-ish) subframes for my Mustang, and they came with NOTHING- they were painted black and didn't even have caps over the rear ends of the tubing, much less seat braces. I bet a lot of the other subframes on the market don't come with reinforcing plates either. Quote Selected

Got my subframe connectors! Reply #7 – December 27, 2005, 05:15:42 PM I have a guy locally who custom makes, and installs subframe connectors for 200 bucks. They conform them to the floor boards and the guy is a certified welder, and they do some awesome work. Quote Selected

Got my subframe connectors! Reply #9 – January 02, 2006, 12:11:05 PM Did that price include ripping up the carpet and whatnot too? Or did you do all the prep work prior to bringing it in? Quote Selected
Got my subframe connectors! Reply #10 – January 02, 2006, 01:03:19 PM What happened to Kenny Brown, anyway? Didn't they just build that open-track V6 mustang a couple years ago? Quote Selected

Got my subframe connectors! Reply #12 – January 02, 2006, 04:04:26 PM does anyone make a strut tower brace for an 88 TC? I'd be interested.. had my car jacked up the other day and went to close the door and bam nothing lined up was fine when I set her back down. would subframe connectors help that? or is it the fact that I actually have two TC's? Got my subframe connectors! Reply #13 – January 02, 2006, 06:41:26 PM Yeah, that's definitely a problem that subframe connectors might address. As for the strut tower brace- just about any Mustang strut tower brace should fit, however the ones that are made to bolt to the center of the firewall run into the windshield washer hose on a Thunderbird, so you might have to make some changes there. I bought a MM strut tower brace for mine, which IMO is the only way to go (it attaches to the pinch weld on the firewall and it's only $130). However if you still have your ABS it might not clear the master cylinder...I don't know. Quote Selected
