Led Taillights!!!!!!!!! Reply #17 – December 22, 2005, 12:23:05 AM I think they would like nice with the lens blacked out. They have that sprayon tint that looks nice and easy to remove if you dont like it. Quote Selected
Led Taillights!!!!!!!!! Reply #18 – December 22, 2005, 01:51:30 AM Yeah those were the angles. Not bad, I agree with the rest of the guys though. I think paint the background black, and do a light niteshades to the lens. Very cool man. Quote Selected
Led Taillights!!!!!!!!! Reply #19 – December 22, 2005, 12:25:36 PM Thunderchicken, So are we going to need to send you a set of lenses when you start making these things? I have a spare set right now, and need to know if I should hang on to them. Since I'd rather not drive around without taillights. ThanksPaulP.S. This is pressure to take the next step with all your badass Ideas. Quote Selected

This is pressure to take the next step with all your badass Ideas. I wouldn't count on ever seeing them for sale commmercially - they are a LOT of work, which is why the project has been progressing so slow. Just removing the red and white lenses from the inner panel is a c - they have to be dremelled out, and to get them round one has to have a steady hand (which I don't). Hell, if I did start making 'em for sale, who would want them with a "please allow 4-6 years for delivery" tag? :hick: I will likely make up a tech article on how I did it once they're done, but it is not a project for the faint of heart. You will need to start off with a complete set of tail lights, not just the lenses, filters or housings - all of it. You will also need lots of high output red and white LED's, and preferrably the ones with the standoffs so they can be angled correctly. Some circuit boards, some resistors and diodes, some epoxy resin, some black dye for that resin - as you can see, it's a big project. It can only be done to 87-88 Thhunderbird and 85-86 Cougar lights, as well - other years/models do not have the required "smoked" outer lens Quote Selected

The blacked out bucket will almost give an illusion that the lenses are smoked, because there is nothing "bright" to reflect light off of, similar to how my windows looked tinted when i put black/gray seats in my car in place of just gray Quote Selected
