Admins need the post count visible so that we can prune the inactive users a few times a year, or to recognize a noob that needs, um, "realigned". ;)

Realigned. I like that

As for the tech sections: You mean you don't like the constant "5 lug swap", "HO swap question", "how can I make my V6 Bird/Cat faster", "what wheels will fit on my car", and so on, threads?:rollin:

BTW, if the "rep" system is so unpopular let's put it to a vote. I don't see any use for it personally, but some people live or die on their "rep" points. I'll start a poll in the lounge

Why keep the tech section then, obviously everyone is annoyed with it and noone reads it, Therefore it's useless. I get most of my tech from Corral anyway. the posts I have placed in the tech here were mainly to get more people talking in tech to find out everyones knowledge/skillset. Its always nice to know who to ask a question about a certain topic.  And yes i realize im going to get flamed for this.

No, that's a good point and very valid. I think those of us that have been on this board for many years have just grown a little jaded when we see someone ask a question that we've answered literally dozens of times before. Me personally, I don't mind that. There will always be noobs to our cars and if we have to stoop down a little bit to help them out, so be it. However...one of the biggest gripes about the old board setup was that it had no usable search function. Well we have that now...but nobody seems to be using it, especially those that need to (aka noobs). Therein lies the Catch 22. Now I'm even-tempered and will always side with extending a hand, but that doesn't mean others will be the same way. It's like, we put all the good, useful threads into stickies, then we move them to their own section, then we have a search function and TWO reference sites in our logo at the top. And yet we still get a new thread about a very old subject, which most likely is already answered somewhere, perhaps even that special best-of section that's right at the top where everyone can see it--gasp!!! As the saying goes...you can lead a horse to water...but you can't make it drink.

Sometimes I think the NATO way is the right way. When a noob posts there and it's a subject that's been covered multiple times, they get a response of "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION". And guess what? THEY DO. I don't think we should be board puppiess or anything, but hell, I'd be all for enforcing the search function like that.

And nothing against the Corral...but we will never devolve into that. ;)

You ever been to TurboFord?  Its a sin to repost a question!

As for the board, I think we are all thinking a little to hard about this.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Everything's a waste of time to you lately, Hayseed. Rare is the thread lately I haven't seen you take a  all over. Why bother posting if we're all just such an inconvenience to you lately?

I'm going to go ahead and say that four pages of discussion about a green dot is a bit much, IMO.

Lesson for today: Every comment made on how long this thread is just makes it even longer.

OH Gee whizz Carm, I guess it does *gasp*

Do you think we should also disable post count when someone talks about a thread rather then about what the thread contains? ;)
