Might be selling the Demon....

Hi folks! :grinno:
Started my 2 week vacation and decided to take a drive when I happened upon the local Ford dealer and the gravitational pull of the Demo 2005 Mustang they had sittin out front pulled me in and refused to let go until I drove it....

I crunched the numbers and it's very dooable for me.  I'd be getting a GT with an automatic and would void the warranty as soon as the superchargershiznit the market.  BUT-- :disappoin  the Commander (wife ) says if I do that the Black Demon must find a new owner.
For me to get the Demon to where I want it would run about 5 large with the supercharger and the suspension upgrades needed to make sure the car wouldn't twist itself in half.  Not to mention the fact that the interior is no longer showroom due to the 2 inch tear that the driver's seat suffered over the summer....

13's aren't fast enough.... I'm not sure which way to go.
What would you guys do?

If you want uncommon style and the freedom to do whatever you want to the car without the concern of screwing up a brand new ride, keep the Cougar. If you want what everyone and their grandmother is going to have within the next 12 months, buy the Mustang.

With the money I intend to spend on fixing up a T-bird, I COULD just buy a new car. But I'd rather have a T-bird done exactly the way I want it than pretty much any new car out there. That's how I tend to look at things. YMMV.

Everyone's gonna have a Mustang soon enough, once production ramps up.

You're gonna regret selling the Cougar.

Well, I'm not a fan of new cars. That whole airbag thing just doesn't work well when you're only 4'10. I used to drive my dads truck thinking "OK, you crash, you're dead".

Aside from that, it's "just a mustang" and remember that the 4.6 is quite the pricey motor to mod. Though it's apealing in it's rarity now, give it a few months and they'll be everywhere. Even if you decide to go with the stang, I'd wait a bit. When has it ever been good to buy the first model year of a car?

Just some things to take in to consideration.

Teach her to drive stick. I sold a manual once so my wife could drive it. Never again. She now drives stick like a pro.

You people and your obsession with manual transmissions.. :D

Sometimes the women-folk (like mine) don't really want to learn how to drive a stick, and sometimes some of us (like me) don't really want to teach them anyway.

Oh yeah.. almost forgot my mother: She knows how to drive a stick, but it's no longer comfortable for her to do so. The surgery on her spinal column could have something to do with that. In other words, even people who CAN drive a stick aren't always going to.

She knows how to drive stick, but prefers auto, especially in rush hour traffic.  It's a hassle on Long Island.  Anyway I think I might be able to talk her into having both.... Wish me luck...

I don't mind autos............ in trucks, sedans, and vans. If you're getting a GT, it just seems like you're missing half of the goodies.

how about you "give" the cougar to your wife, and bye the mustang, or vise versa so she dosnt sell the cougar. then u have 2 cars and she dosnt have to drive it

How about you tell her to shut the hell up and you're getting a Mustang whether she wants one or not.  :headbang:

Talked her into it!  We have threee cars right now. One she takes everywhere, one I use to scoot back and forth as a beater and the Demon.  She wanted to go down to 2 cars , but I became creative and explained it in a way that made sense.  In other words I begged and groveled for an hour or so
Anyway I placed the order.  Sonic blue with light grey interior and silver racing stripes.  Won't be ready till February and hopefully some supercharger kits will be on the market by then....
I'd like my first time in it to be with boost.
