No I just want more engine for myself. Knowing that I have an engine to back what I think will just be a bonus.

Some of the guys at CJ have H.O.'s or Supercharged or what not. 170hp is pretty py. I want more. Plus I want more of my car.
Remember the only way I can improve my car now is by taking a year and working on it. I make  near minimum wage working 40 hrs a week during break from semesters. By dropping money into insurance, gas, and all the other things it's taking away for my upgrades to the car.

My last post was kinda dumb. That's not the whole reasoning behind me doing this. I see what some of you guys have. Will's xr-7 from day one has been my role model. I love that car with a passion. HEll it's not even mine and I love it. Yah he is older then me and makes more $$ then me but I can respect all the effort that he has put into that car. Everything is detailed and worked on. Mine on the other hand has things that are taking away from it that needs attention.

1. Last year I managed to take one of most beautiful girl that I've ever met out to a nice dinner and a movie. It's pretty embarrasing pulling into the parking place, popping the hood, and unhooking your battery cable because of a electrical draw. And doing this 3 or 4 times a night while your with her because of I'm afraid that the battery will die and leave us stranded. (kind of a pride thing)
2. My Dash beeps every 30 seconds because of something wrong with it? Annoys everyone else. I got used to it and dont even hear it anymore.
3. My engine leaks about a quart a week due to a bad rear main seal on the engine. Parents are upset with the puddle of oil in the garage.
4. My rear suspension is shot from carrying that large subwoofer around. Every bump I hit it clunks like amother.
5. I can barely spin tire with a car that sounds macho.
6. I get 15 mpg @ 170hp whereas I would rather get 15mpg @ 250hp

I appologize for sidetracking this thread but you know if I could I would be driving it. But if I fix it up now then by next year I'll have one hellava car.

Well, go ahead and pull the Cougar off the road. You can work on it as time and money permits.
That doesn't mean you have to skip Cat Jam. You're not too far away, right? Can you hoof a ride from somebody going through PA?
How far from Pittsburgh are you?

Yeah, what Eric said that others said. Eric raises a good point by emphasizing other's good points ;)

it's nice to see the "family" aspect of catjam..... you all seem to really care about your cars and most importantly each other.....  being a newbie this year, i am now even more jazzed about driving 700 miles up to ohio in a cougar with rust on the doors and the origional 120hp engine with NO mods getting 14 miles to the gallon and probably nearly maxing out a credit card to do it.....  and why???  because just like the prom thread, it's all about the memories and going to something that may only last for a short time, but that i might be able to gain glorious memories that will last me the rest of my life.....  i think that's worth spending about $800 for only a weekends worth of fun (danm, i paid that much for the cat :))........  trust me, i have 3 kids, a mortgage, goto school full time (summer too) and work for $7.50 an hour too, so i'm in the same boat as you Cougarcruisin..... but it's nice to see that our decision to try to wedge ourselves into this community and go into some debt to explore a passion that we can't quite yet afford was a good decision.....  i'm glad you created catjam eric, and i'm so looking forward to meeting all of you and soaking up everyones fox body knowlege.....  i may only have an average car at catjam (and it's the wifes to boot), but it doesn't really matter to me because there seem to be such great people here who don't care about the quality of your car (or even if you drive a fox body anyway), it's the love for the car that bonds everyone.....  july is just too  far away.....  i'm starting to count down the days!

where the hell is that teary-eyed emoticon anyway  :)

OOOH!!!  I'm a Eco Hypermiler :burnout: Not bad for 79mph on the interstate 2hours a day

Of course, dude!  Are you coming this year?  You REALLY have no excuse.  You're so local-ish & everything.

Anyway, yeah, Steve.  You saw me come car-less this past year.  I really almost thought about not coming, but I'm sure glad I did.  Even if I didn't have Eric's beater to drive around, I still would've been glad I went.  If you don't decide to go, I guess that gives you more time to work on your car and I can't really be mad about it. It's not like it's a 20 minute trip for you, as it is for me.  Anyway, we hope you show up.  Hell, I'll even let you drive my car, you can see how much faster yours really is, then.

You know Steve, I'll be on 80 on my way there.
How about bringing your old 3.8 out of retirement?:hick:

I still hope to go. My car isn't running at its best so I may even trailer it out. Of course gas will suck ass if I tow it. But atleast I won't be stranded if it breaks down. It depends on what I can get done between now and then.

Right now it's kinda touch and go, I literally get back from a trip to Mexico that friday (like evening-ish). However I do have that saturday off. I'm just looking at how much jet-lag i'm gonna have, and how much my bank account suffers as a result of the trip :locked: . Right now it's looking like I may take that sunday off, but i'll make a final decision come the begining of july. In all likely hood i'll prolly break down and show up ;) .

Once again, if anyone has ideas for the Chinese auction, please post them here or e-mail me (ericATcoolcats.net). Karen has been bearing the brunt of the ideas and purchasing, even making some things by hand...we need to help her out.

Hey is this too wierd? I was playing around in the kitchen last night and tried out some cougar sugar cookies. I thought the blue was a little strange looking.:screwy:  I think I'm gonna pursue some other, non-edible ideas, but these were a tasty experiement.
