..seriously.. no props for design and colour scheme.. not my style.. but props for doing something he wanted to his car and not just sitting around talking about what he's going to do, hell yes!

I'd give the guy props if he never touched a car again.

I guess we're only allowed muscle cars and cookie cutter tbird/cougars on this board. Eric, baXo, and anyone else with something unique, get out.

Im amazed at all the trash talk, and all the comments about how poor it is. Ever hear of "work in progress?". It makes me sick that most of the members on this board will never be able to figure out how to do some of the work this guy did, yes they can sit here and trash talk someone who did the wore, but they dont like it and its not perfect?

I bet i can find flaws and pick apart EVERY car on this board if i really wanted to, or state something i dont like about it, and piss and moan.

People bitch more about what they dont like, then comment on what they do like.
It's Gumby's fault.

I agree with  Tbird232ci that he did what HE wanted to HIS car. Thats good enough for me. Very interesting car, and i like some of his ideas. I wouldnt do it to mine. I would like to meet him though and see what kind of other ideas he has if he can think and build like that.

If no one would dare and do what they wanted then there would be no custom cars, period.

For everyone taking a hissy fit because some of us think it's ugly (heaven forbid we don't follow the crowd today and give this car love) just remember that it will be you calling something ugly tomorrow. It's the internet. Bitching is what we do. Please stop pretending that you don't take part.

The blue Gundam Civic, which was hideous, got props for some top quality fabrication work. This didn't, because it looks like a hack job that he's trying to unload on someone.

Eric's car has a secret paint chip.  I've seen it!

Everyone give up on doing different things.  All of you's just do a 5.0 HO swap and call it done.  Please do NOT think outside the box.  I won't bitch too much more about this because as we speak, my car has been sitting for almost a year.  I've had a new rear end for it for over 6 months.  Why isn't it on the road?  I don't have the money right now.  Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

Well for one, the Hood and trunk are not even done correctly, all they are is two airshocks you can clearly see this from the pictures,  the trunk i dont even see a way to secure it closed. Im willing to bet the hood and trunk are very weak when open, there is nothing to support the weight of the hood.

Look again. Picture 3. May have to brighten it to see. The hood is supported by flat steel struts connected by a crossbar just above the rad, so they both pivot at the same time. Big springs to counterbalance the weight, which IS supported right in the middle by the rather large brackets. Short metal straps visible at top (rear) corners of hood that will mate with corresponding straps on body to locate/hold rear of hood, with stock latch securing the front. Tilt back, engage straps, push down front, *click*.
(Just like a certain GM car I remember seeing).

The trunk mechanism is shown in pics 6 & 10 (brighten again), which is the same crossbar-style, and you can see the side-channels in the trunk framework that the front corners are guided into before bringing the rear down, again using the stock latch.
Death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth.

The sad part is, had Will or Alex or I chosen to put a reverse-flip hood on our cars, I'm sure we'd hardly get a negative comment. But when a complete stranger does it and decides to sell the car on eBay, all of a sudden it's a feeding frenzy.

You know, what if the dude was a member here and never posted much? If he saw some of these comments he'd definitely have a bruised ego. It's so easy to judge from a low-resolution photo on the Internet, from behind your computer, in your cushy home. But that doesn't account for all the time he actually put into his car. Which is more than what can be said for a lot of board members here. This guy, at the very least, didn't pipe dream. He got off his ass, sweated out the work, and decided he doesn't want the cars anymore. Big f'n deal.

Taste, as always, is subjective and I think that's what people are riled up about. But I still stand by my comment that the rims and sidepipes can be changed, and that most of the tedious work of reverse-engineering the hood, trunklid, doors, and gas door is done, SHOULD YOU WANT A COUGAR WITH THOSE FEATURES. If not...move along...nothing to raise your blood pressure over...sheesh.

Actually, about 2 weeks ago I thought about doing it and now that I now it can be done, I just may. All the negative comments it received here won't stop me.

So many high horses today.

I don't like it. Judging by this thread and it's trends, that means I'm the one thinking outside the sandbox. People shiznit on my car all the time. "What are you talking about, you drive a Thunderbird. lol". Do I cry about it, or move on? There are critics of everything. No matter how good his intentions are, I'm not going to like those tiny wheels and tires offset like that with so much wheel-gap. And the same goes for non-functional side pipes. If this was an import, Eric, I guarantee you'd be calling that rice.

What more can I say?

Hey, it's alright not to like it. It's another thing to not respect it for the time and effort put into it. Again, you're going to have your opinion. That's cool man, you're entitled to it, soak in it all you want. A few of us have looked beyond and seen the craftsmanship.

OK, so what if this car had 16" Pony rims and no sidepipes? What would you say then? Would it all of a sudden be a bit "better"?

And for the record, I don't call anything 'rice'. Imports are fine so long as somebody does a nice job. But that seems rare. ;)

I actually thought the reverse hood was kind of cool. The trunk, not so much, since all he managed to do was make the trunk harder to use, (and make it easier to have wind rip it open at speed). Glad to see I'm entitled to my opinion, though. :) That's the point I'm trying to get at.

For the record, I never liked pony rims. :giggle: Yet another misshap of personal taste. But if it had usefull wheels and even funcional side pipes, it would look like a flat black cougar, with a suicide hood and side pipes. Better, yes, in my eyes anyway. There are ways to be different without using 13" wheels.

If I chose these, I'd be just like everyone else. If I chose these, I'd be a laughing stock, and you'd all tell me what other wheels I should have gotten. If I buy these, some would like them, some wouldn't, but I'd be different without making the car look ridiculous.
