Didn't wanna put this on Facebook. Hell, haven't even told anyone I hang out with on the regular who lives close by.

Tomorrow we have to put the dog down. She had surgery to remove a mast cell tumor on her back about 10 days ago. It had shown up out of nowhere in late September and became really aggressive after Thanksgiving. She was fine after surgery for the first few days. Eating. Jumping around..... About 3 days ago she stopped eating and drinking. She has begun to throw up..... I'm fairly certain that one of the medications they gave us for her is causing an allergic reaction (dry patches on forehead and inside her ears, NEVER HAD THIS BEFORE). We stopped them all yesterday, took her cone off, and have been doing what we can to make her comfortable. he can't stand without enormous effort and was walking fine the other day.

I know if they recommend another procedure, she won't make it. I've seen enough animals at their end to know this.

Still, it feels rotten, like I've failed her..... Just wanted to vent.

Sorry to hear that, Paul. I went through something similar a few years ago with my parents' golden retriever. He was their dog but I was close to him, I walked him daily for his entire life. He just suddenly couldn't walk, was paralyzed halfway down his spine. I had to bring him to the vet because my parents couldn't bring themselves to do it. He had an inoperable tumour on his spine. One of the most horrible things I ever had to do. Even though he was unable to walk, when he saw that he was going in the car he got excited, and I felt like a traitor. My only consolation was that when he went, he went peacefully.

That's tough. So sorry to hear about it. Had to do the same to our 11 year old dog this past August. Best dog I ever had. Still pains me to think about it. It's never easy.

Yea it's tough, sorry to hear...

Last Jan my ornery ole Tom cat was diagnosed with oral cancer, he was approx four months short of being 11... Told vet to go ahead an put him down, still feel guilty...

Paul, I'm sorry to hear this. It's never easy to part with someone you love, but hang in there. The loss will be hard, but you are doing the right thing. Remember the great times you had with her.

I had a Goldi go down on Christmas Eve (lukiema). Moped around for a year. Wife got me another one and he went down a week before Christmas Eve (cushings disease). Said I'd never do it again so I had a cat that was more dog than cat. He went down in Nov. Hardest things to do. I feel for ya.

So..so...sorry. I'd so seems so unfair that our furrkids live such short lives compared to ours. Thoughts are will you to remember better times.

Very sorry to hear about that. We were never pet people growing up in my house. We had some fish but never dogs or cats so I didn't really get it when people got emotionally attached to pets. Then about 10 years ago my wife got us a dog and I can't imagine life without her. Best friends.

I hope the good memories you had with your dog get you through this very tough time.

How are things!
Im sorry about this also.
Shadow our golden lab, last of our six dogs died last fall.
He died with his boots on, right there with me right there on the floor face to face both of us.

I sat infront of the TV and of all the years of bitching that i cant even eat my supper without the begger look in his eyes wanting some of my grub, i truely found out how much i missed him being my pain in the ass dog.

I know for nearly the past 3 years he had to be nearly blind,, we suspect he had patterns memorized around the house and how he navigated the yard to poo.
even up to his last day he went to the door to go out to poo.. had a few indoor accidents but rare.

I hope you have lots of pics and vids of your pal, we all know how much this stinks, but not how much it hurts you so hang in there,, We are here
