I've been away a bit, working a lot, gaming a bit in my little spare time. Weather is changing (has been unseasonably warm, and probably have a tornado watch today here), and will be outside more, which means getting my ass in, under, and generally out there working on the stanger.

I was thinking a few days ago about how much has changed for me in the last ten years, mostly for the better. Wish everyone I knew (and "know" on here) are the same way....just glad to be alive, healthy, and able to enjoy an older car.

I've changed, I think. I work with some younger people...makes me glad that I can get by on my own, and not be a burden to society like so many are these days.

But this ain't a bitch session post....ten years ago, I was pretty unhappy, and uncertain. Today, I'm grounded, reality is here, kids need help with their homework, or there's scouts, or band, or...or...

Do I need a cool old car?

It's like running into your first girlfriend 30 years later...

At the time, she was everything. Now...it's a hello, how are you?, and the kids want ice cream.

What was her name...ed if I can even remember anymore, and I care even less.

That's how I feel about cars, now.

I'm 40 in August, I work harder than any two of these "kids" half my age, get less sleep, and still have more energy than they do.

I just wish I had more desire to enjoy the things I used to. I put new bearing and seals in the mountaineer a couple weeks ago...then turned down a couple of oil changes/chassis lube jobs for inlaws because I simply don't want to work on cars.

Maybe it's time to let 'er go...

I'm going to do a couple things to it, drive it through the summer, and if the spark is gone...so is the car and most likely my hobby of Foxes.

I still love the old Bird. Still do work on it when I can. I do 50 hours a week, and still manage a little time each week for the Sport. My wife encourages me to get the things done on it. Sometimes I don't need to do any work, and I am pretty happy with the car as it is now. I did have to replace a distributor the other day. It actually felt good to turn a wrench and tinker around. For me, it's not like an old girlfriend from the past, but more like a current loooooong twrm relationship that I'm really comfortable with.
