Wow those are some huge brakes. Sounds like they really knocked it out of the park on this one.
I'm so giddy that there are a couple at work I get to see almost daily. I can't believe how the body has grown on me since they came out.
1987 20th Anniversary Cougar, 302 "5.0" GT-40 heads (F3ZE '93 Cobra) and TMoss Ported H.O. intake, H.O. camshaft
2.5" Duals, no cats, Flowmaster 40s, Richmond 3.73s w/ Trac-Lok, maxed out Baumann shift kit, 3000 RPM Dirty Dog non-lock TC
Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...
1988 Black XR7 Trick Flow top end, Tremec 3550
1988 Black XR7 Procharger P600B intercooled, Edelbrock Performer non-RPM heads, GT40 intake AOD, 13 PSI @5000 RPM. 93 octane

Yeah, I've always shunned payments for something that in ten years is pretty much worth 10% of what you paid new for, but ed if I wouldn't suffer payments for a new 'Stang. Have to be either the color of Carm's, or else yellow. Or red. Or blue...but I prefer the Guard's.

Carm..tell us now...have you really gotten out somewhere and put your foot in it? Does it have the balls of a 400+hp car?

Just think...a little over ten years ago, the Termi Cobra was rated at 390....with a blown 4.6.....my, my, how times have changed. I love it...just wish I could buy into the game right now lol.

Think about what junkyards will be like in the next 10-15 years...

Those of us will have junkyard budget builds with only 400hp, while a new stang or camaro will have a 1000hp quad turbo 1.3 liter 4 banger that gets 75mpg...

Ill probably still have a stock 150hp 5.0 and complain about how i had to upgrade to 20" brakes to keep my 4 lug cheap tires.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

The underpan/belly stamping looks very similar to our '12 Mustang. The rear is a vast improvement over the solid rear with a Watts linkage the '12 has. Very impressive.

The only way any S197 had a Watts link rear suspension was if it was installed aftermarket OR it was a Dan Gurney edition car and those were of the 2005-2009 variety; I believe they were 2008 only.  Otherwise, it's a panhard rod setup and one that doesn't impress me.

I swapped to a Watts link on my '05.

The Watts link is bar none one of the best suspension upgrades one can do to a solid axle S197.  Don't even waste your time with an upgraded panhard setup.  The factory panhard rod is, for lack of a better term, shiznit.  When I pulled mine out at a scant 12,000 miles, it was bent.....

Doh. Meant to say panhard rod not watts linkage :hick:. Still have the factory panhard setup in the 12.
