My valve covers ain't gonna work.

. I saw the price and thought...wow.

I'd compare them to a set of stock valve covers to be sure the new set has the bolt holes in the proper spots...but you may have, so...

On mine, I was able to put the covers on after the spacer simply by taking the TB off, and the bit screwed-in fitting on the back driver's side corner of the intake.

The breather cap on my v/c is baffled, and there's also a PCV valve. I'm not to worried about the PCV, as I'd retain use of the one at the back of the intake, but I don't really care for the piece of hose sticking out of the front of the valve cover.

With the v/c swapped to opposite sides, there's not enough room to get the breather cap, and use it as an oil filler...I've not experimented with it too much yet, I will later this afternoon though, and post my results.

All of this wouldn't normally be an issue, but these v/c's came with the '84 and I really like the look of them. I might end up selling them or trading for a set that will work with 1.7 roller rockers.

I have looked at these in the past but I just ended up ordering the TFS aluminum fill necks and welded them to the my existing Motorsport tall valve covers and also had an aluminum bung welded to the filler neck for the PCV system.

I cannot comment on the quality but others on the Mustang sites are running them.

Drill your own holes for your particular setup.  Decent price too.

Ummm…yeah…I just tried going that route last summer. Buyer beware: the bolt holes may not line up correctly. This caused about a month of grief trying to get a resolution from the seller. I have a new (theoretically "correct") set sitting on the workbench that may--or may not--go on this spring. Depends on how ic I feel at the time. I love the look but swapping them out with my engine setup is just horrid.

Anyway, I just wanted to warn people that might otherwise be suckered in by the price.

Good to know.  There are plenty of others out there with the same look.  It would seem I'll need TWO sets, one tall for the Cougar and one standard for the Lincoln to compliment the new intake.

You can use the HO valve covers if you use 2 gaskets per cover. My mustang is like that with 1.7 rockers. No intake spacer needed.

The factory T-Bird valve covers have more room on the inside than the HO valve covers since they are stamped steel vice the cast aluminum. The 93 Cobra used the t-bird valve covers to clear the 1.7:1 factory roller rockers. Usually 2 good valve cover gaskets (Rubber Impregnated Steel) will work on the stock t-bird covers to clear all valve train less stabilizer bars.

Those valve covers thunderjet302 posted are probably much better fit and finish than what I posted.  I wonder if they will clear valve train girdles?
