That.
When you choose in any fashion to hurt, let alone kill a child, you've given up your human rights in my eyes, and believe me, if I'm in sight of the act, I will empty a clip into the perp(s).
Not to be religious, but putting prayer back in school is not going to solve this. Banning guns will not solve this. Cops in school whether off duty or on will not stop this. They may be there a lot faster to stop, but someone who is determined will still have victims.
My thought: once you're in, you're in until last bell, someone gets sick and has to go home, or there's a UPS/FedEx/food delivery, and those should be screened before getting inside.
Of course, this won't cover games, activities, gatherings, etc, because there's no effective way to screen every person that comes through the doors. Then of course will be those who piss and moan about living in a police state.
One other thought: those who commit these horrible acts of violence..like the sgt in texas who shot up Ft Hood, instead of being imprisoned, they should be shot, hung, killed in a brutal way to send a very clear message to the other sick shags that want to do harm on a large scale that we will not accept it.
As for the pile of shiznit that murdered these kids, autistic or not, bullied or not, there had to be intent of the sickest kind, blaming it on a disease or anything else is weak. I was bullied in school, I did my fair share of it....I didn't go apeshiznit and kill anyone, neither did anyone else.
There's not a drop of sympathy, empathy or feelings of any humanity from me to anyone who ever commits such an act against people, let alone children.
I do know that shiznit like this has affected my personal life, I almost always carry my gun, and have for some time. ( I AM legal to carry)
People I encounter give me all sorts of responses from "cool man!" to "should I carry too?" (yes!) to asking my "why?"
I just reply it's everyone's right to safety, and if they are uncomfortable with it, then we'll both walk away. Look at the world around us....I am not leaving it up to chance, in the event that something happens in front of me. (Not that I EVER want that).
Sorry this is long, at the end of the day, we're still left with the incredible sadness, and the one guy that was telling about his little girl who cheered up other kids when they were sad....he's a hell of a man to be able to go out in public and say that about his lost little girl. I couldn't...
Godspeed, and may the parents and families of the victims somehow find peace in this most wretched of times for the United States of America and her friends.
