Yeah ebay, craigslist etc. As far as the law goes 88turbo is right you're not supposed to purchase it without license, seeing as it was phased out of use, banned effectively in vehicles. But the stuff is honestly all over the place, especially ebay. Prices will vary but it's by no means out of reach to get enough to charge your average vehicle. No way for any authority to truly prevent it being sold secondhand.
1987 20th Anniversary Cougar, 302 "5.0" GT-40 heads (F3ZE '93 Cobra) and TMoss Ported H.O. intake, H.O. camshaft
2.5" Duals, no cats, Flowmaster 40s, Richmond 3.73s w/ Trac-Lok, maxed out Baumann shift kit, 3000 RPM Dirty Dog non-lock TC
Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...
1988 Black XR7 Trick Flow top end, Tremec 3550
1988 Black XR7 Procharger P600B intercooled, Edelbrock Performer non-RPM heads, GT40 intake AOD, 13 PSI @5000 RPM. 93 octane

REALLY. How the hell LOL. What you can bring it to the register but you'd better have your papers ready?

You could try to find some Freeze 12, its CFC free and it took the place of R12. According to one of my parts guys the Freeze 12 will not be produced anymore, Google autorefrigerants.com and you can get some info on other replacement freon for your system.

to use freeze 12 do you have to empty your system or can you just tap it off?

EDIT talked with a guy from Auto Supply Company and he told be you have to drain your r12 before putting in freeze 12

I normally recover and flush the system out, and then I put in new a/c oil and fill the system with the freeze12.
