83-87 Ground Effects Interchange

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'm not finding it...

How well do 83-86 specific and 87-88 specific pieces interchange?
I would assume the front bumper cover wouldn't fit right at all due to shape and such.

But, How about the side skirts?
I think I recall reading awhile back there was only a small height difference to the side molding?

And how close is the rear bumper cover to fitting?

Pics would be great too, If you got 'em.

It seems by coolcats.net, That Eric frowns upon this type of thinking *snicker* But I'm curious... :hick:

I don't frown upon it...but it just doesn't look good if you try to interchange. It's your car so do as you wish.

Front air dams will not interchange. They're really not even close; shapes are too different.

Side skirts can interchange but the height on the sides (where they meet the molding) can vary. You may need to either trim or add a filler piece. But they will interchange.

Rear valances generally won't interchange. The built-in bumper molding is the main reason, but they are different depths as well.

Ah! Thanks.
Do you know if its trim or add on the skirts for 87-88 kit onto 83-86? Looks like it might be trim...
And I'm thinking from the back of rear wheel well to the rear bumper looks longer on an 87-88? Didnt think the molding would be a problem... Any idea if this would still an issue interchanging 87-88 kit to 83-86 bumper?

83-86 side skirts are higher than 87-88.

The rear bumper dimensions are different everywhere...they won't interchange.
