It was the second color choice behind grabber blue when we went looking for a Mustang. Grabber blue won. I think Kona works with the lines of a T-bird very well. I would tend to agree with you, but I think it has more to do with the darker colors making the style lines, such as those on the rear of the roof panel of the 84-86 'Birds, more visible.
