Reverse Sighting ?

So I'm at the Ford dealer today to pick up something from parts dept. I had backed the XR-7 into a parking space right in front of the showroom windows. As I'm entering the service area to make my way to the parts window, a young fellow approaches me and calls out "Sir.." I assume this guy is a salesman (nametag) and (now noone here get offended) he looks to be about 25, pimples on his face, neck the size of a pencil and he's wearing a sweater...that buttons. "What year is that Cougar?" he asks. "1988" I tell him. " "1 9 8 8" he repeats slowly, and turns and walks away like I just handed him the ten commandments on granite or someting.
I complete my business and head back out to the car. The guy is standing there with a mechanic (sorry, technician) who is apparently out on a smoke break. "I've never even seen one of these" the kid says, "what's it got in it?" In my old-school defiance I say "302". The kid looks to the mechanic with a blank face, who tells the kid "5.0" So now I'm climbing in the car trying not to laugh out loud, but I'm shaking my head-no. Now mind you, the car looks like shiznit because the clear coat is burned off the hood and roof and the car needs to be painted. But the interior is nice and everything is there. Start it up, let the magnaflows rip and drive off. Was worth the trip.

Love the story. When this happens to me Im shocked every time. To me driving an 80s model car is normal. Its weird to think of my car as the Cougars or muscle cars of my dads day.

Then why do people buy new cars down there? Cars up here usually rust out before they mechanically fail....

because people are stupid and think a new car is a 'must have' when they pay their old car off.. they do it here, too.. they seem to think it's a 'status' thing, little do they know, they're getting buttstuffly raped everytime they get a new car, since we all know a new car is the worst investment you can make

New cars are worth it if you keep them 10-15 years.
