reinstall factory TC radio (premium)...no work May 25, 2005, 05:58:37 PM I reinstalled my factory radio in my 88 TC with premium sound but it turns on and I only hear fuzz and can't seek through stations. The display is dead and it's stuck on some random AM station. I had a Clarion CD player in the car for about 4 years. I had rewired the speakers from the deck out to bypass the amps and ran new power and grounds (so I didn't really interfer with the stock system).I tried a new radio, but it did the same thing. I know these amped systems are very different from a standard audio system and they need to be connected just right...what could be wrong? Quote Selected

Re: reinstall factory TC radio (premium)...no work Reply #4 – June 01, 2005, 08:44:23 PM there are 2 wire harenesses for the speakers maybe you pluged into the wrong one. Both plugs look alike but one is prem sound and one isn't. If you have the prem sound deck in there and have it hooked up to the wrong plug there might not be enough power to run the stuff. Re: reinstall factory TC radio (premium)...no work Reply #5 – June 02, 2005, 03:32:08 PM ok, well that fuse was blown. It was the one for the courtesy lamps, radio memory, clock memory and cluster memory and outside mirrors. But it just blows again when I try to replace it. Even with the radio out and disconnected and the key off. All I did was reconnect (solder and heat shrink) all the original wires back together and reinstall the radio. Anyone have a clue what could cause this, even with the radio out and disconnected? Quote Selected
Re: reinstall factory TC radio (premium)...no work Reply #6 – June 02, 2005, 10:59:56 PM some where a power source on that fuse is dead shorting to ground. Double check all your wires for cracked or missing insilation. Also check the bulbs just to see if one got smashed and is grounded. Is the lighter on that circiut also. If so maybe the light socket got hit and the internal power part is touching the outside case and grounding it. Quote Selected
