Hard to believe things haven't changed much...

I tip my hat to you then. You know quite a bit more then me about these things. I basically like pc's for the same reason I like our cars. Their cheap. When you know what will go wrong, their easy to fix. I have never even really known anyone that has run a mac. I would like to learn more about them, but I don't think I will ever convert over.

I like my older computers, much better then newer ones. I have a 300mhz computer sitting here that I am going to hook up one of these days. They just seem to have a quality that newer computers do not.

I only use 1 PC in my house...A 2.4 ghz with an intel server board I run Sage tv with 3 video grabber boards for TV recording, and playback through stand alone set-top boxes on my network... still run Win2000 on it too, and it never gets used as a computer and never goes onto the internet...It's been running for 4 years straight with a handfull of reboots in that time. it was my last PC, and was one of my best PCs ever. I used a virus program that didn't slow down a computer back then...They got bought by the government for their computers, and stopped distributing to pc users. I stopped using any protection for a couple years , and never had any problems back then...But if I ever have to do anything on my grabber pc now...I want to toss it out the window.... can't believe how backwards designed Windows always was..

Yeah. I miss 2000. Its too outdated to use any good programs, and xp and later use way too many resources. My computer at idle uses 850mb of ram. My little 300mhz computer is faster as long as there are no graphics intensive programs running, and it only has 128mb total running 98.

I still wish I could run 98SE for my grabbers...I miss the DOS 6 days myself... everything ran stand alone, much like a mac does. Computers were so cool in the 80s. Now they're a giant pain in the ass, that we can't live without...lol

I have three 8088's. One only has one giant 5 1/4" floppy so that you can fit the 2 meg hard drive. I have monopoly for dos 3.1 or something like that.

I had one too with, dos 3.1.....and the best questing games money could buy... Police quest... space quest... leisure suit larry... quest for glory...still have all those games, And now a dos emulator for mac

I'll never own one again. not worth the aggravation to do what you can do with a simple click on a mac... I ran Linux for years before I went mac....It was always missing something and lacking compatibility with networking, and many PC programs, but mac delivered what was missing in 2002, and I never looked back......;)
