if prior military, no training class req'd

CC permt is a background check then you get your CC for 5 years.

federal permitting is more detailed but no hard.

wv is easy going on the peoples rights in the USA

by law what is odd is that  you are "forced by wording" to use only a gun to protect yourself.. there are words in the law that make it difficult and nearly impossible to carry anything but a gun!

New project, completely off the books.  Looking to chamber 300BLK, anybody have experience with the cartridge?
That's a Polymer80 G150 Phoenix lower, if anyone was curious.

Lost in a boat accident yet?
It's Gumby's fault.

Ahh, the .300BLK. You gonna run a can?

I've shot one a bit....easy to shoot, quiet, hits like a hammer. They'll drop a deer (whitetail) with ease.

There's a gun out there that I'd give me left ball for. It's a .300 Win Mag, but in an AR style rifle. There's a guy on the yooooootoooob shooting it one handed. Recoil is pretty tame owing to the spring. Anyone who's shot the .300 WinMag in a bolt gun knows it ain't all that mild.

Anyone wanna donate about 3500 bucks so I can live my dream?:hick:

(we can take the ball issue to PM if you like) :punchballs:;)

As for MY guns, still using the Walther PPQ and of course my PPS is my EDC.
I've also got a PPQ Navy, but it's the M2 version and since I prefer the paddle mag release, it stays in the safe.

Did snag up a Mossy 500 sometime back. 2-3/4" slugs call it home. Woe to anyone who forces me to use it on them. They expand to silver dollar size in soft stuff.

A guy I work with is doing some rifle shoots, wants me to get into the pistol side of it, there's speed, accuracy, and popup target shooting. Looks like I need to practice a little...first event is October 27, I think I'll give 'er a go.

I'm not going to run it suppressed, tax stamp is too much.  I want to run .300 Blackout, because I want to be able to hunt worthwhile game with it.  .223 Rem/5.56 NATO is NOT a hunting round, no matter what anybody says.  It's really only good at taking one kind of game, and I'm not that interested in prison.  I've also been tempted by the new 300 HAMR from Wilson Combat, but their barrel is 1-15 twist and they want almost $300 for it.  For that kind of money, I might just deal with the 300FPshiznit to MV running 300BLK.  Or maybe get into handloading, I don't know.

I don't follow.

A huge reason people have 80's is that no one knows they have it. Posting a picture ruins that. If you were to lose it, people would go back to thinking you no longer had it.

it's a joke.

I'd be a little carefully with 300 BO on a poly lower. Subs I'm sure are fine, but hot and heavy hunting loads may beat that thing up. I'd definitely get an adjustable gas block and tune it down as low as you can. Those buffer tube towers are a weak point. And since you just 'lost' your poly80, you could always finish an aluminum one too and never have to worry.

To me, the point of a polymer80 is that it's half the price of a serialized Poly lower I'd have to pay an FFL to get.  And I like to build stuff.
I'm not concerned about breaking it, the G150 Phoenix is the 2nd gen P80 unit, and it's the strongest poly lower available (serialized or not).
I've already passed every background check to buy pistols and get a concealed pistol license, I don't have to worry about anybody knowing I manufactured a firearm for my own use. (Except maybe my wife, which is why this project is off the books) All the ATF cares about is that it's not for sale.

If you don't want to or will never run suppressed, I'd forgo the expense of the .300 BLK stuff, and simply build a .308 gun. That will take down nearly every 4 legged game animal save for moose and elk in the US, for the most part.

I STILL laugh in derision when I see people putting muzzle brakes on .223/5.56 guns....what are you...a f*ckin' pansy?? LOL.

(I hate the shagers anyway, and so does everyone who stands next to the  shooting the ed thing at a range, outside, etc)

I dunno, recoil, to me, is a wonderful thing. It's subjective, however. A semi auto AR-type in a mouse caliber like I mentioned above isn't worthy of a brake. My ten year old shoots my hand-me-down .30-30 and says it's not a thing to bother about. He's almost as big as me, though.

That time when I shot a .338 Mag a few times...yeh, that was a tad bit uncomfortable. I also hunted for a couple of years with a .45-70 with some handloads my dad made. That was some robust shooting, but not much more kick than a magnum turkey load in a 12ga..

Pretty much this. Especially depending on the state that you're in.

308 guns like AR-10 have a different magwell, so that's out.  I had considered a CRD, and maybe that's what you meant by 'can'. I agree that nobody wants to be in the stall next to the guy with the AR at the range.

I get it now.  You 2 guys are from MaryLand, where you pretty much HAVE no gun rights and can't own an AR pattern firearm (IIRC).  For both of YOU, a poly80 WOULD be about keeping it on the low.  Sorry about that.  Here in Michigan, things are different, FFS we have legal open carry, no permit required, Shall Issue CPL, Shall issue pistol purchase permits, and can own pretty much anything we want that isn't full auto or explosive.  My boss lets me keep a loaded PPQ in my toolbox and he keeps an AR-15 above his office door.  Aside from the snow, I really like it here.

PPQ FTMFW, BTW.

, who'd a thunk I could make a "sentence" with mere words..lol.

My job is pretty restrictive per carry, but I do get to keep my edc in my vehicle.

Foe, I see where you're coming from...you've already got your lower, so... ;)
If I was starting from scratch and wasn't planning on suppressed, I'd go .308 or even something bigger. But .300blk is cool, too. Definitely take deer with it. Make a good home defense tool, too. Mount a light, good to go.

We can own an AR15, but there are a lot of hoops. There are many more firearms that are just as, if not more effective than an AR15 that can be had much more easily. I can't remember off of the top of my head, but you can legally build an 80, but you can not sell it. Some ranges will not let you bring it in if it doesn't have a serial number.

Not here, you only can't bring it in (any firearm) if it is uncased or unholstered.  I've never been to a range that checked your serial number.  Here, if they knew you had an 80 frame or receiver, they'd be curious and ask questions like "was it hard to build" or "what tools did you have to have"  "how much did it cost/save" and so on.  But no, I can not sell it.  There are some precedents for sale of a self manufactured firearm, and the dividing line between "I made it to sell it", and "I made it, played with it and got bored so I sold it" is between 24 and 30 months, depending on who you end up dealing with.
