The intake is cast in a mold, and the "sand" used in molding has to come out somewhere, and those holes aid in the molding. They have to be sealed,so,freeze plugs.

why do all SEFI v8 intakes have what looks like freeze plugs in the sides?

Both your 3.8 upper manifolds have the same thing. My 95 does.

hmm yeah but mine doesn't look like a freeze plug...its a plastic cap that matches the shape of the contours there

The plastic cap probably covers the plug. My Sport had a cover as well. Most times, they fall off as the adhesive gets old.

Nice. I like that you painted it Ford blue. Are you still running the stock Explorer cam or did you stick in a HO cam?

Kept explorer cam in it..  Works fine, car isnt raced any plus wasnt looking for all power. And figured it would work good with the 3.73's rear end I putting in car, since the explorers ran that combo.

Thats pretty sick man.  I love how it still has AC.  Did you do all that work yourself?
My car is a gravity hybrid.  The gasoline engine gets me up the hills, and gravity gets me down.
