Removing oil from pavement

So were moving from our current apartment to something new, and well, we've lived here for a year and a half or so and we've had some leakers along the way, worst offender probably being my bird.

Theres a lot of oil on the asphalt parking spots, and I dont really wanna get charged for it. So I was wondering what you guys do to clean it up.

I was thinking of getting a gallon of simple green or something and just dumping it on and scrubbing it in but if theres something better for it I would like to know...

I don't know that there is a way to get it out,  I always thought once it was soaked in, it was kinda permanent. I may be wrong, probably am, LOL

I work for a asphalt co, The stain is there to stay. you could get some cheap sealer and roll it on, it will hide it for a while,but will look like your hiding something. you also say your renting, if public can park on it, you should not care about it. move on!

Typical floor dry will lift quite a bit of the oil out of the contours of the pavement, and it will look much better.

But I agree, if its a public parking lot, even semi-public with reserved spaces, I wouldnt even mess with it.

A lot of burn outs will hide it.  Kinda like warming up the tires before the drag race.

Its not public. Theyre parking spaces in front of our apartment, private entrance, triplexes, single level....

It's kinda there to stay even it it's sealed. blacktop is the worst for getting rid of oil stains.

throw some oil dry or kitty litter on it like gumby said, use a hard bristle push broom and put some pressure on it.. work it back and forth and you'll get a fair amount of it up, but it'll still be noticable..

man, are apartment complexes always that buttstuff? thank god i've lived on personally owned property most of my life

I recently had a lovely spill of Diesel fuel on the street(Probably asphalt?) and for the liquid that was still on the surface, Scoop Away litter worked great since it has fine particles, and for the stain I have been trying Oil Eater, and I think it took care of some of it, but you can definitely tell something leaked there. So...I'm pretty sure there is no way to get heavy leakage out, especially after any real length of time has passed.(The Diesel sat on the ground for a good 8 Hours.)

Take a chunk of the concrete to a paint store and find a textured paint to match the concrete :mullet:

It only has to last until you get your deposit back, lol
