On a side note, I find the sigs with their own scroll bar highly annoying :D

I agree with the scroll bar sigs, but animated gifs aren't a big deal. If you're using Firefox (and you should be :D ), install the Adblock Pluss add-on. Right click on any picture you don't like, click on "Adblock Plus: Block Image" and click on the custom bubble, then add filter.

Not nearly annoying as scrolling through pages of sigs would be without 'em. There's an easy way to get rid of the scroll bar: Shorten your sigs
