project new engine has begun! Got crower sportsmans and cp pistons in the mail today. Glenns getting me another set of honda oil squirters(already got the block machined for them, just need to drill and tap the holes). Tonight I got the engine bored and honed. Tomorrow I need to check a timeline on how quick I can get the block decked. I might try to get the head combustion chamber and bowl work done so that the block and head can get decked at the same time. Not looking forward to doing the head since I have 40 hrs in the head on my burgundy tbird.

This project started after realizing how bad I'm punishing this stock engine this weekend. I'm sure it saw at least 7300rpm multiple times. Not a good thing for stock rods.

Well, this is a long overdue update.  Still waiting for my esslinger dport from bo, but the shortblock has been done for a couple months now.  Crower sportsmans, cp pistons, honda b series oil squirters, m86e oil pump, sumped oil pan with baffles.  I also ordered maximum motorsports 3/4" forward offset front control arms.

Time to drop some more weight!
Saved 19# with this from my swiss cheese steel bumper(thanks 347thunder.  Couldn't think of a good way to do it till I saw yours!)

And saved another 13# with these, and another 6 with what I cut off the kmember that wasn't needed any longer

Old setup

These arms should fix my caster issues too, since they are 3/4" forward offset MMarms.  I can already see a difference in the angle of the strut.

yeah, I figured it worked correctly on your's, I may as well copy it and it should work, lol.  Sorry for ripping off your engineering.  I know I stared at the front bumper stuff for quite a while last year and couldn't figure out the best way to do it and keep both the turn signals and fogs so I just cut a million triangles out of the steel bumper, lol.  I truly didn't realize how heavy the bumper supports themselves were until I took the rear supports out and they were 12-13# together without a bumper on them!

I missed the new engine update, looks nice! Any particular reason you chose to keep the m86 pump vs. the changing to the m127?

Bumper looks nice. If mine didnt see any street time, I would be doing the same thing. I saw on corral that you are thinking of switching to 16's. They will definitely help get you the clearance you are gonna need with forward offset arms. I would bet the huge 18" hoosiers you have now would do a number on the front of the wheel opening and inner liner!

Well, I think I just mislabled it.  It looks nothing like the factory ones, so it should be the later m127.  The bypass is in the rotor cover.  For the arms, the wheels always looked back in the wheel wells.  I think using 86 bird arms is what did that.  So it should be fine.  It only moved 3/4" forward and thats about how far back they looked to me.  If I have to massage the wheel opening, it shouldn't be too bad, and don't have to worry about fender liners since those are long gone.

Aha. I Looked at the pic again, and I can actually see the "m127" on the side of the pump. That's what you get for reading the words, kids. Remember just look at the pics... :hick:

Hey you can get another 10lbs or more with the k-member, and you need to get a k&n pre-filter so your filter doesn't get so dirty, makes a huge difference, I use them on my quads.
