12v electric fan lead

Looking for a place to connect on/off 12v lead for electric fan. Need it to be with the on/off of the car ( turn off when the car is off and on when the car is on ) . The fan is thermal and ac pump on/off controll, then has adition fan system on/off controlled by the 12v lead mentioned above. Currently plugged into empty spot on the fuse panel, but it stays on when the car is off. Don't want to run the battery down when the car is turned off.

are you running the main power of the fan thu a relay, and just need to fins a "call signal" for the relay?

If you are not, then you should.

The main power is str8 off the battery. The 12v lead is to tell the fan unit where on not it is allowed to turn on. I don't know electrical lingo, best way I can describe it.

ok a few more questions.......

how many wires are you working with?

for the fan, you should have 2, one the is Batt 12v and a GRD...

Sounds like you have a can controll box

so your looking for a 12v switched....

4 wires and one temp probe. Temp prob goes in the fines of the radiatior. One wire to +battery, one -ground, one +AC pump, one +lead. Yes it has a controll box.

I have mine wired as you described my fan will stay on untill the temp probe gets below the setpoint even when the key is off but that is how I wanted mine to operate.

I do know that on my car 87 TC converted to HO there is a yellow/gray wire that you could use for switched 12V control. The 4 wires you are talking about the +battery should be a larger wire as well as the -Battery. The other two wires are +AC (turns fans on anytime the compressor kicks on) and the last wire would tie into the Yellow/Gray wire I spoke of. This wire shouldn't be pulling hardly anything as it is only for the relay control so just about any wire you can find that is switched shoud work.

I've got the same question today. I wish I could leave my fan controller hooked up hot all the time, but occasionally relays stick, and that would suck.
So where is this yellow/gray wire? Driver's side by the starter solenoid?

I wasn't able to find it either. If in the moter bay maybe on different side for the 3.8 like mine, start solenoid is on passenger side 3.8 and drivers on 5.0
