Anyone here using Strange 10 Ways

I received my Strange 10 way adjustable rear shocks the other day and am not very familuar with suspension parts but after playing with the shocks I have a question are shocks supposed to return on there own. The ones I received if you push the shock in it just stays where you left it. the only thing that adjusting the nob does is makes it easier or harder to pull the shock back out is this right?

Mine behave the same way.  I haven't drove on them yet but I do remember moving them up and down and it stays in the position you leave it in.

sounds like they are weight transfer shocks for drag racing.

that way on the launch they will compress with the wheight, and plant the rear tires
and  they will be slower to return when the front end of the car returns.

I would bet if you got the matching front struts that they would be harder to compress down.

just from how your discribing them, I doubt  I would like them for street use, due to there slow return rate,  pot holes and train tracks should be entertaining.

Oh my bad I have the strange 10-way front struts on my car,  I didn't do the rear yet. Not that it matters.  I don't think struts or shocks need to return to any height thats what the coil springs are for, the struts and shocks just provide resistance to control the coil springs... so the  controls the resistance the struts or shocks will have ... Am I correct in saying that?

OK so it sounds like they are working like they should I will have my front struts in a few days I was just used to having gas struts and shocks that returned on there own. As a side not I am using these new strange shocks and struts with Mach springs and CHE upper adjustable and height adjustable lowers.

I had the rears untill I went to coil overs and I had to change them. I drove them for about 500 miles they were fine a little harsh but most of us don't want our birds as soft as a crown victoria. Also you need to buy chuckw's shock mount relocators or reweld the mount higher like I did.

By the way did you have to do anything to the top of the shock or did you reuse your PRC tops to mount the top side?

I upgraded to the Strange struts and shocks this spring.  I have no complaints on the ride (set at 6) w/Eibach lowering springs (seems to be comparible to the GR2's I had).  I'll find out if they help with weight transfer next Wednesday at an open track day (drag strip).

I swap between two sets of tires and wheels (one set for regular driving and autocross, one for the drag strip).  The fronts are a 225x50-16 & 205x60-16, rears are 245x50-16 & 255x50-16.  The short front tires are dramatically stiffer, resulting is a considerably rougher ride.

The tires seem to make a bigger difference in ride than changing the shock valving...
