not sure what happened to the vert. don't really see any major repairing except for a couple holes welded on the floor. then again it wouldn't take much damage to total the car out. it's not worth much. A fender would probably exceed the value of the car.

Found my replacement hood today...... super clean and rust/dent free.  Not an easy find for a 40 year old part.

I'm glad you where able to get what you wanted from your ins. co. Are you still going with the shaker? At first when I sw you were changing the color I thought no way man but since you're going back to the original color I think it's awsome! It's going to look great blue. I kinda like the hide away lights myself, of course I always use headlight cover on mine. It's just a matter of taste. Whatever you do with it I'm sure it's going to be great!

So you are partially right, i am going with the shaker but staying with the current color scheme, as the budget wont allow for a total repaint right now.  I am blacking out the hood and adding the shaker, chrome hood locks, and keeping the hood tach. (See the red Cobra pic for my exact set up. Here are a few pics to give you an idea of the finished look.  hideaways just were not in the plan for me, both for aesthetic and $$ reasons. I prefer the open headlights anyway, i think they are more aggressive looking for the era.

So what kind of hood locks are you going to be using? They don't look like all the other ones out there, and I'm looking for something a little more low-key, just having trouble finding them. A link would be great. Thanks!

P.S. I'm sure your car will look fantastic when it's re-assembled.

The hood locks were for Torino 70-71 only, but im sure they could be made to fit other years, cars etc.....you will need the hood lock set and will need to fabricate the hold downs that attach the top of the radiator. The locks are re-popped in the MAC"s  catalog....

i took a 8 hour round trip up to Mass. to procure a replacement hood for the Torino today.  Its a beauty....rust free, dent free and straight as an arrow....this had to have been hiding in a garage for 25 years. 40 year old parts dont grow on tree's.  I met up with a Torino buddy while i was up there and had some breakfast, he met up with me in 68 Fairlane 500 Fastback, in Grabber Blue. Really nice car......here are some pics....Im in the shorts and brown t-shirt....

That's great, wish I was closer to put it together for you.... It looks like a fun repair. BTW, there's a slim chance of me coming down to LI in the fall.
