88 Turbo Coupe, Loaded 5-Speed, Runs Good, Clean Body

This Turbo Coupe would be an excellent project car.  The body is really clean, which is why we bought it in the first place.  My son and I wanted to build it together, but it is not going to happen.  He is out of the country for 1-3 years and I can’t have it sitting around until he gets back, so it has to go.

This TC appears to have every option you could possibly get, including leather, sunroof, dual power seats, auto dim, etc.  The only option it does not have is an automatic, it has the T5 5-speed, which I think is a good thing.  It runs and drives pretty well right now.  The exhaust ends behind the cat and the ABS relay needs to be wired back in (long story), but otherwise it seems good mechanically.  The interior is okay, the dash and seats are cracked.  The exterior and underneath are very good.  The driver door has been replaced and the back half has been repainted.  I think the front half of the car still has the original paint on it though.  There are some dings and the worst part is where a branch fell on the roof, but it’s a clean body and it’s clean underneath.

We’re selling it for $1200 and would be willing to deliver it or meet somewhere for gas money.  Here’s a link to an album containing a ton of pics and some video.  I would be happy to take more pics if anyone wants some.  Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks, Mike.

How many miles are on it?

BTW, I had a 1988 T-Bird Sport way back when. I found out that it was totalled shortly after trading it in. It still has the ignition switch recall to date.

The odometer reads around 155K, but the cluster was replaced at least once, so I don't know the actual mileage.

Yeah, unfortunately, trades aren't an option as driveway space is almost as important as the cash is. Where in Ohio are you? I went to Columbus to get a bumper for my daughter's Mustang and I met DAMINC in Cleveland, so Ohio isn't a bad cruise.

Have you checked the Carfax to see if there are any discrepencies?

I don't have Carfax. I would be happy to send you the VIN if you wanted to run it.

PM sent. If you find something out and don't mind sharing it with me, I would post the non-personal info. The car should have spent most of its life out west and then ended up in MN. Good luck!

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Thanks for the kind words, I agree. Also, thanks to RoyLPita, we now know why it looks so good underneath. He sent me the Carfax. To net it out:

This TC was sold new in California (out west, just like the previous owner told me) and stayed there until 2001. There were no issues reported, no accidents, theft, hail, etc. Then it went to Wyoming for a couple of years. It didn't end up in Minnesota until 2003. That's why it is so clean. We also now know it has at least 238K on it too, regardless of what the current odometer reads. Thanks again RoyLPita!

You're killing me here! 99 Automatic TC For Sale ads in a row have comments posted like, "If it was a 5-speed, I'd be all over it." So, I advertise a 5-speed TC and you want an automatic.... :rollin:
