Replacing Head Or Head Gasket

Well since Im pretty sure its at least a blown head gasket I would like to know what I am getting myself in to I am going to try and tackle it myself with my dad and friend since i dont really feel like paying someone to do it and I have some time since i have a back up car. Am I getting in too deep with little expiereince ?Im hoping you guys can help me if i do. Or should I just bight the bullet and have someone do it?

its not really that bad.  leave your intake attached and pull the exhaust manifold loose everything from there is pretty easy.

ok that sounds good. how much more difficulty am I looking at If I have to replace the entire head because it's cracked?

The new head will be junkyard sourced right? If so, you will be waiting on machine work or at least getting the head checked out to make sure everything is okay on it. Its good to know a good shop for this, I got screwed by calling around and getting quotes. went to the lowest one, then the hit me with 6X what I was quoted.

If you've torn into the car a couple of times, it will surprise you how easy it is to get it down to just the pistons if you want to.

well fordtruckfreek says he has a head for me I just have to pay to have it shipped. I have a good machine shop by me so I'll take it there
