a so you are going to show him what slow really is.... cool.:D

I dont have anything against mopars, I just hope I can keep up or out run my brothers 440 cuda. lol

His: 68 cuda 440 cid. auto, (roughly 500-600hp.)
Mine: 86 TC, 289 cid auto, (I've been told by the guys over at sbf forum that I can hit 400+ hp.)

If I can wind it up high enough, I should be able to stay right there with him, shouldnt I? Theres a BIG weight difference between us.  I've been told it will take a lot to get my car to hold up to that kind of HP though, what do you guys think?

FWIW, a coworker talks about his brother who had a 440 Cuda, and a Probe GT turbo, and he said the Probe would run circles around the 440, lol.

He's still not certain about the 440, he may just go with a 360 and put the 440 in his truck.  But, I think he's leaning towards the cuda with the 440. lol

A mildly built 440 in a Cuda can run 12s fairly easy to be honest so start buyin parts ;)

I'm gonna have to say the Cuda is going to eat your car and spit it out.

I used to be into illegal street racing in my early driving years... I raced a 440 cuda (I think it was a cuda, some mopar product with "440" on the hood) in my 83 ranger with a 289/C4. My 289 was stock and tired. For what it's worth, I got my butt handed to me in a major way. Wasn't even close.

I raced another ranger with a chevy 350 in it, and killed him. So at least I beat somebody that day :)

Got the news this morning, he wont be ready to race me any time soon, He's decided to put the 440 in his truck so he can get it ready for pulling season next year.:mullet:

Kinda makes me sad though, I'd love to at least take a ride in something like that. lol :burnout:  He thinks he's just going to drop a 360 in it now, personaly I think he'll kick himself afterwards. but the 360 would be plenty of motor I guess. lol

I know, but theyre still not as impressive as that 440 would have been. lol

If he takes his time and builds it right, he'll probably still eat me for a snack with it. lol  He doesnt half ass anything, so I'm sure whatever he decides to put in it will scream!

IMHO, the main problem with a big block in a lightweight car is traction. Combine the amount of off-idle torque a big block makes with the narrow wheel wells of the era and you get HUGE amounts of tire smoke. :D That is unless the owner has knowledge of what it takes to launch a big block car or babies it off the line. :burnout:

Many moons ago, I owned a built 429 Super Cobra Jet Mustang that could run very low 11's at the track with slicks; but with street tires a small block anything could hand my butt to me in most street racing situations. So unless he knows what it take to make a big block hook up, don't automatically assume that he is gonna run away from you.
