garden problems

oh, here is what i know to be fact with tomato seed.

My unle Lester was in the WWII battle of the buldge.  When in germany, he was up in a garden and had a nice beef steak tomato off the vine.

He put the seed in an old cigerette pack and folded it up.

Came back home in 44' and forgot about them till the late 40's.

planted them and several plants came to life.

each and every year in Catlettsburg Ky, the largest beefsteak was saved and sacrficed as seed upon a napkin to let dry.  the napkin was folded up and put in an envelope.

each year the napkin was opened up, soild tossed on top of it,, water added and little plants came about.  Each year there was nothing different from the previous.

so it is possible to keep a line of seed going without effecting the lineage of its dna.

I just gotta start doing things from seed instead of plant.
