maf bracket April 11, 2005, 01:16:41 PM alright i have this nifty maf conversion and a cold air kit. however i have no bolts for the bracket on the maf sensor and also have no clue as to the mounting point looks like it mounts on the shock tower with two bolts. does anyone have pics and do you remember what bolts u used for the mounting of bracket on the maf sensor as well as to the car. Re: maf bracket Reply #1 – April 11, 2005, 01:55:30 PM If your CAI kit consists of 2 metal tubes, and once installed your kit is rock solid, skip the MAF bracket. The kits usually come with a metal bracket that you have to drill a new hole for, and the metal is wimpy thin anyway. I've had mine off for about 4 years now with no ill effects: If there is ANY kind of play in the CAI kit, though (in other words, something wiggles) then you will definitely need some kind of support bracket. The original location for the bracket is on the strut tower; the CAI kit relocates the bracket to the framerail underneath. Your MAF meter should have three screw holes on the underside for mounting. Re: maf bracket Reply #3 – April 11, 2005, 03:29:36 PM for right now yes im trying to install mass air on a SO engine. it is just the first step however. i just haven't finished porting my upper and lower intake (ho) and heads(et7e) yet and wanted to see what the difference would be with the ho upper and 19# injectors. mainly because the 65mm runs like at idle alright at wot. i think it is the restriction of the 50mm upper. it really didn't fit well way to big for gasket and intake. so i was hopeing to elivate some of the problem. Re: maf bracket Reply #4 – April 11, 2005, 03:32:17 PM cool cats thanks for the pic and info. that will save me some time of rummaging through ace hardware for the right bolts. my cai looks just like yours, but it is some off brand off ebay Quote Selected
Re: maf bracket Reply #5 – April 11, 2005, 03:43:22 PM You can't run 19# injectors correctly without the HO computer. All you'll do is dump more fuel, making the car run pig rich, and decreasing your fuel economy big time. Stick with your stock setup for now but certainly add the HO upper. When you do the HO conversion it's all or nothing...you need the cam, injectors and computer at the same time. Trying to mix and match those components without them being together will always result in poor performance.Likewise for the MAF sensor....you need to have the car totally over to the HO setup (cam, injectors) before running the MAF system. And of course you need the MAF HO computer with it too. Quote Selected
Re: maf bracket Reply #6 – April 11, 2005, 04:50:38 PM thanks i was hoping that wouldn't be the case but oh well. i have everything except the comp so i guess it will just be the upper for now, good thing i scored two of them for almost nothing. Quote Selected
Re: maf bracket Reply #7 – April 12, 2005, 02:20:47 AM hey ericcoolcats, where did u get the chrome pieces for the power steering, coil cover, maf, and upper fire wall? great looking engine compartment by the way.... Quote Selected
Re: maf bracket Reply #8 – April 12, 2005, 09:02:40 AM Most of the shiny flat pieces are polished aluminum, hand cut by yours truly. The power steering cover is an aftermarket Mustang piece. I'd like to do things differently under the hood but that will have to wait until the next motor change. Such as it is, I'm fairly happy with it...thanks! Quote Selected
