Cool, welcome.

I've got an 80 XR-7 myself.  Haven't done anything with it yet though.  It's a bit rough around the edges.

I am no longer a unique and beautiful snowflake  :(

Swap those gears! chances are you still have the 2:26's in there and they'll get you nowhere fast. Otherwise it sounds like you have a great start. pics pics pics pics  :D

The body is pretty straight and rust free but the paint is nothing to brag on.......I've got plans for a color change, possibly titanium frost, I will remove the vinyle top and trim.....I hate it and its a maintenance nightmare.

Pic with old wheels:

Pic with new wheels:

Not the clearest pic so here's a close-up of the wheel:

I gotta get some better pics with the new wheels, The above pic w/ the 10 holes is actually just a "mock up" with the wheels sitting out front. I'm running 235/50/15 but there is plenty room for more if I had a wider wheel.

And you're right about the weenie gearing. I thought I had 2.45s but the very well could be 2.26s. All I know is I shift out of first at around 70mph.  But  if the lentech won't catch second.  :D

I've got another 7.5 with a 3.73 out of a 4cyl stang waiting to be swapped.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Nice!  :tg: did you remove the side trim? its making me rethink installing mine when i'm done. The roof isnt finished under the vinyl so dont tear into it till your ready to paint, half mine was burnt off when I got it and it looked like ass. They look good as hard tops though, if I didnt have the 'opera' windows I wouldve lost my top too.

The gearing is a pathetic attemp at gaining mielage, but it'll do about 3500 rpm at 150kmh so its not all bad :wtf:

If your looking for any of the trim (headlight door etc.) i've got a couple boxes of it aswell as some NOS pieces so I might be able to help you out. Have a police speedo I might be parting with if I cant find a decent job soon, pm me if you would be interested in anything.

Love those tail lights  :grinno:

81T-bird,

Do/did you used to post on ford-fox.org.  I seem to remember you there.

I used to be on this board, registered in 2002, but my profile must have been lost and I had to create a new one.

Anyways, I really like the look of your car.  I see you took the side moulding off.  Well it is nice to see some more 80-82 Thunderbirds and cougars.

Here's a link to my little website with a few pictures http://www.cardomain.com/id/redsphins

By the way, since you have an 81, did you swap a 1980 front fake lower grille?  And please post your gauge set-up if you can find it.
