so my wastgate was leaking June 13, 2009, 10:54:54 PM and in the process of getting to it to tighten it up, I had to take the turbo apart, and ended up pulling the works out to do repairs. Turns out the divider I had welded in the wastegate tubing to separate the scrolls burned out and wedged in the turbine housing:mad:All I can say is I'm amazed it didnt hit the turbine itself. If it had, it would not have ANY blades left on ithttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31067.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31068.jpgLuckily the turbine didnt get hit with anything  http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31069.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31070.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31071.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31072.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31073.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31074.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31075.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31076.jpgWastegate was DEFINATELY leaking. 1 bolt missing, the other 3 were loose even though they were safety wired :thumbsdown1:: http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31077.jpgThis is where the metal came from. I had welded a separator in here to limit the amount of crossflow between the scrolls. I guess thats what I get for using autobody repair steel. I shoulda used 16 gauge steel, not 20-22 gaugehttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31078.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31079.jpgAnd I'm guessing this means its a 14 cm housing??http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31080.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31081.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31084.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31085.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31086.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31087.jpghttp://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31088.jpgAnd the pieces that were stuck in there. Thank god it was a twin scroll housing otherwise there would be no blades left on the turbine!!http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c146/Fordguy545/88%20t-bird%20tc/SNV31089.jpg Quote Selected
