Is it just me, or is it hard to find a cheap car these days?

Well, I finally killed the t/c, it's starting to knock, oil pressure sucks, and it has a severe case of auto ebola  :disappoin I'm hoping to rebuild, but I need to find a cheap car in the meantime to do that.

I've only been looking for a few days, but it looks like if I want anything decent, I'm gonna pay for it. I've only really found one good deal under $2k. I can't even find another 5.0 bird/cougar around here right now.

Just a bit annoyed and wondering if anyone else is noticing a rise in the price of cars  :disappoin

I've abandoned my stang idea for the moment, too much stuff going on right now to deal with that much money going out the door every month... oh well.

I haven't looked at the price of cars lately...I have too many as it is ;)

Perhaps so many going to the crusher lately to feed the steel/raw materials demand is starting to drive up prices on "good" examples.

If you have a weekend I'm sure you could swap in a good motor in the TC in short order.  Hell if you can do it in a hotel parking lot, I'm sure you could manage it in your garage/driveway.  Not sure of your schedule or time to accomplish said task though.

Therein lies the problem. I don't have a "good" engine. I have an OK one from my 87 that I guess I could swap in, but that's a bit extra work for a temp fix with all the stupid little differences (as learned at CJ). Time to start hitting up some junk yards...

Also in the working way too much overtime realm right now... so time is non-existant till at least April 8 and I need to get the sport back together by carlisle and I have a ton to do...

I have my mom's car for now, but don't know how long that'll work for (the little brother messed up big time and she took the car back).

Maybe I'll suck it up and buy some total POS $300 car to drive for 2-3 months, fix the t/c when the sports back up and go from there. It all depends on this one car I'm waiting on an answer about (one buyer ahead of me)

I just found a car for $80. 1994 Plymouth Acclaim. The only problem is the engine is gone. It's spittin' out blue smoke most of the time and the rest of the time it's spittin' out white smoke. I bet the 3.8 guys can tell me what's wrong with it :giggle: . It has new brakes, exhaust, tires, and battery. Anyway, my friend just happens to have a engine for it in his garage with only 120000 Km on it.

I must have you mixed up with a girl on another car forum. (assuming there are others. :grinno: )

Still, I could have sworn it was you, Crystal. I must be losing it.

No, you're not too crazy, I remember hearing her talk about buying one.  But I think it was Aimie (TrickFLow347) who actually did buy one.

I wouldn't mind an old F100 4x2 with a 6 ft stepside bed, a stick shift and a 300, but I don't want a truck for a daily, no fun

Bah. Stepsides. Waste of a truck, in my opinion. ;) Although, an F100 step looks pretty good. If it was a pre C10 Chevy, I'd have a step on it, (unless it was a nice fleetside or Apache or even Cameo) just because there's no way I'd work a truck like that. But anything '67 and up needs a LWB full box to look right. (I don't even like short boxes)

What sort of car are you looking for, Crystal?
