what going on with my 5.0???????? February 21, 2009, 10:06:53 PM ok.you just gotta love fords because the 5.0 that i installed into my 1982YELLOW GL coupe is from a 1987 1owner 70k mile crown vic is very:confused:. every other 1990 or older nonH.O EFI 5.0 is low hp cast pistons flat tappet engine .well some one forgot to tell this engine. because when i pulled the EFI INTAKE to replace the intake gaskets . i find this;as you can see there a roller cam where the flat tappet cam is sappose to be plus you can also see that intake gasket was starting to leak.that why i was changing it.ok ,the valve cover sticker has a date of 12/1/1986 on one side and on the other valve cover it has 11/26/1986. while the intake was off i check both head casting# and there BOTH E6SE and 6J24 on them. but here the kicker when i check the block the casting # is E7TE .so my question are; when did they put roller cam in nonH.O 5.0 engine? because it not the same H.O firing order in this 5.0.what is the cam spec's on nonH.O roller cams? how would E6SE heads GET on roller E7 block in a 87 car? are these E6SE heads like the ones on 200hp 86 mustang? remember this crown vic was 1 owner 90yr old man, than only use his crown vic for highway driving. there was no history of ENGINE OR HEADS being replace the hole time he had it. the only part that was replace was the tranny on the day he pick it up and drove 60 highway miles and the AOD went out.here you can see the engine as pulled from crown vic; Quote Selected

what going on with my 5.0???????? Reply #4 – February 22, 2009, 01:48:56 AM cool, thanks. it what i need. i wanted this car to have roller cam and with that low lift,i can put my 1.7 roller rocker on with out worry about the piston mating with a valve. after i get everything in the 82 and running .planning in the future date.to have better flowing 1970351W heads than the 86 heads. at that time ,i will see about changing to the H.O cam. but at this time, i'm just trying to get the car as daily driver.. what going on with my 5.0???????? Reply #5 – February 22, 2009, 08:03:41 AM If you're gonna run a carb, You'll need a distributor with a steel gear, most carb dizzys have a cast iron gear, otherwise the steel cam will eat a iron distributor gear...You can run a HO cam with E6s & 1.7s and not have clearance issues(been there done that), E6 valves are sunk so far up into the cylinder chamber, you'll about need binoculars to see them...
