Possible new ride.... Reply #3 – February 11, 2009, 01:35:20 PM it looks like it might be a xr7 which only had the v8. but my guess is the same as your guess it could be either a v6 or v8. Quote Selected
Possible new ride.... Reply #4 – February 11, 2009, 01:39:36 PM Quote Wonder how the rust is?X2 - Well it was bought here in tennessee (Nashville) and we dont get much snow here, and they dont salt the roads much. I hope it it dosent have any but if ti didnt it would be perfect, especially if its a v-8. Its sad to say, but if i bought it my 20th rustbucket would become a parts car. Quote Selected
Possible new ride.... Reply #5 – February 11, 2009, 02:10:57 PM Polycast wheels.....if they were factory installed upon assembly then it's not an XR7....Could be a Blue Max or some sort of Special Edition. Quote Selected

Possible new ride.... Reply #7 – February 11, 2009, 03:38:32 PM If it was a xr-7 wouldn't it be a 4 cyl.?It has red trim like a xr-7. After looking again I don't think xr-7's had trunk racks.Stranger things happen to these cars. Quote Selected
Possible new ride.... Reply #8 – February 11, 2009, 04:03:38 PM '86 was the last year of the 2.3T in a Cougar. All 87-88 XR7's were 5.0 SO equipped from the manufacturer.Trunk rack could be a dealer item... Quote Selected
Possible new ride.... Reply #9 – February 11, 2009, 04:11:11 PM That's a Blue Max or Special Edition. If it was a V8 it would have dual exhaust but you can't see that from the photos.See here for more info: http://www.coolcats.net/fox/limited.htmlThere was at least one red '88 Blue Max XR7...kind of unusual but it's on the page listed above. Possible new ride.... Reply #10 – February 11, 2009, 04:26:38 PM Either way I'll probably (hopefully) still try and pick it up, as long as its not rotting. Any fox cougar or t-bird is slim pickens around here. Theres only like 1 t-bird and no cougars at the few junkyards that are close to me. Just hope the person hasnt gotten rid of it yet. Possible new ride.... Reply #14 – February 13, 2009, 11:16:04 PM Sometimes my luck really blows. I told myself if i didnt hear back from the person with the '88 cougar, then i would buy the '94 t-bird. This afternoon i went and bought the t-bird, came home, checked my email, and heard back from the people with the '88. But, the new t-bird is awesome, i dont like it as much as a fox, but it is badass. Tommorow i go to get some new rubber, and after that ill post some pics so you guys can let me know what you think.:burnout: Quote Selected
