That's great! I've been wanting to do the same thing for Coira and Seamus. I even planned to name two of my kids after characters from a book I started writing when I was 14, but that was voted out by the Reeves family Parliament. :hick: Coira loves books, and dragons, and even more, books about dragons, so Santa might bring her a copy this Christmas. ;) It's funny, but Angela was trying to convince me to start writing for real, this morning. If I channelled the number of words I type online in a day into one place, I would probably have a novel written by the summer. :p

Tell the wife that I like what I see in that snippet. It naturally rolls off of the tongue when reading it out loud, and looks to be pretty quirky too. Something for the parents. (not so many roads and a lot more trees)

Congratulations Brittney.

its odd how things work out,, you were just discussing writting a book and along comes this.  Author house is a great deal so far.  We have 850 dollars into it.
for that you get 20 copies
Boarders listing
Amazon listing
another big name listing
19% royalty
ISBN number
a project manager

and a buch of other things to get it out to the public.

Authorhouse does a whole lot more and has several packages.  I would give it a shot if i were you.  Thank you for the kind words,, i can post up a bigger intro if anyone likes,, I have the txt file on my computer.

wow,, i am humbled.  Thanks everyone,

sneak preview..... the words following the intro

On an especially warm and sunny spring day, Sophie the fairy was fluttering through the woods looking for something to do.  She was chasing sunbeams through a walnut grove and not paying much attention to where she was going when she happened upon a beautiful meadow filled with lovely yellow daffodils.  Quick as a flash her nose started twitching and her eyes began itching and way deep down in her middle she felt the biggest sneeze you can imagine beginning to take shape.  She rushed as fast as she could back into the trees trying to escape the horrible feeling, but it was too late.  She tried with all her might to hold it back with a finger under her nose.  She even held her breath until her eyes started to water, but sneezes have a way of finding their way out no matter what we do, and out hers came.  She sneezed so hard that her feet went right over her head and she did six or seven back flips in the air, fairy dust flying in sparkling clouds all around her.
Once she recovered enough to fly again she brushed herself off in a rather pouty way and stuck her tongue out at the sneaky sunbeams that had tricked her into going so close to her most dreaded flower.  Then off she went without another thought in search of some new game to play.  However, her fairy dust was still floating gently towards the ground and one tiny grain found it’s way to a walnut tree where it settled and tricked the plant into forming a walnut around it.
As the walnut grew, strange things began to happen with it.  To begin with, it was never brown.  Instead it was colored lime green with deep emerald creases.  It also moved slightly every now and again even when there was no breeze to help it.  All in all it was a very strange nut and the tree was a little worried about it. As soon as it could the tree shook it off and the strange thing fell to the ground with a PLOP!
Through a day and a night the nut lay where it had fallen.  When the sun grew warm again it began to quiver.  As the day went on the quivering turned into a jittering and finally as the last sunbeams slid away for the night, it cracked.

That's great!!!  Congragts to your wife.  I just let my grandaughter read the preview and she wants a copy of the book, so I will get her one.  She also wants to know if the author will sign it for her?  I said I would ask.

This is awesome, I am very happy for your wife, I hope she continues to write more books and more Fiddlebug adventures.

I'm very interested in that signed copy as well. I just went through the checkout and saw shipping was $17.44. I wonder what the shipping would be, if I had it shipped to you guys, signed, then you ship it to us. I want a copy, but $31.39 is a big number. ;)

How expensive is shipping to Goshen, Guysborough Co., Nova Scotia, B0H 1M0?

Hello to All!  This is Brittney, Scott's wife.  First let me thank everyone for all of your support and well wishes!  You are all so wonderful!  Scott mentioned that there are some shipping issues going on with a couple of orders.  This is most likely because I didn't receive my copy to double check and okay until Saturday and have to wait until Monday (tomorrow) to call the publisher and let them know I'm happy and that they can print for other people.  If there is some other reason I'll find out and pass the info on to Scott.  I also hear that some of you would be interrested in signed copies.  I'm planning on placing a bulk order tomorrow so I can have copies on hand for a couple of signings I have coming up, so if it would work out better for you I would be happy to take your order personally and send from here. If you happen to be out of country, we will be happy to cover any shipping costs above what everyone else on the site has already paid to keep things fair to those who have already purchased and reasonable for anyone wishing to have a copy (plus, you guys here are special;) ).  I believe the magic number is $17.95 for book and shipping. Please let Scott know if I'm wrong on that.  Probably the best way to place your order with me is to send your request - or any questions you have for me - to my e-mail at revisedelf@yahoo.com so you can let me know the specifics of who I'm signing to.  If you'd rather you can also order through the site and have it shipped here to be signed and then we can ship it to you (we will cover shipping from here to your address if you go with that option so you don't have to pay double to the post office.)
I'd better turn this back over to him so he doesn't worry that I'm going to try to "steal his people" LOL.
Thanks again!
Brit
p.s.  I actually had to split my origional book in half for print cost reasons, so the second book will be out at some point.  I'm hoping to start editing and revisions after the new year...so yes, there is a sort of series in the works.

for mulitiple books ordered from brit directly, she will just weigh them and just price it like that.  she wanted me to cover this since there are a couple who want more than one book.  Obviously shipping will decrease per capita on more than one book.  One book might cost us 2.50 to ship while 3 might only cost 4 dollars.

just fyi to you all, the price for one book is what her site check out says for one book.
if you order 2 books, then im sure it wont be 17.95x2.  more like 34even or whatever you and her come up with.

OLD RAVEN,, your a special case and we are going to absorb the huge shipping on that one,, no biggie ok?  I told brit theres no sense in that shipping,, Besides, you are her first international customer:bowdown: Just get with brit, have her ship you one for 17.95 ,,okdoky?

anyhoo,,,,,,
I was also told to let you all know that today she confirmed her book is ready for release.  Today is the day authorhouse will accept orders so there should be some movement on line with your orders now.  We were told this is the first time they had orders for a book that wasnt actuall up for sale real time ever.  They did not expect brit to have her website up that quickly so that was part of the so called problem.  Shes just good like that:D

Wow. Thanks to you both! Are you sure? That shipping is more than the cost of the book. Maybe we can split the difference? I don't want to see you guys lose money on my account.

Either way, I'll email Brittney my shipping info and we can work it out over that exchange.

Thanks again, Brittney and Scott, (she goes first because she wrote the book :hick: ), and Merry Christmas!
