illuminated entry

anybody ever took apart their illuminated entry/door locks?
I had to replace mine yesterday after I ripped the wire out of it while changing the power lock motor...MAN! what a PITA that was...
Had to bend all to hell the chrome cover, then separate the thing and replace it with one from the maroon 'Bird that is now more or less a parts car...

Yea i had to take mine out once, but it was really easy, there is a clip kind of like one for a lock cyl, once you take that out it comes right out save for the rather long wiring.

I'd love to have a brand new number pad - the one on my car is faded.

Yea mine too,it also gives anybody who wants to get in a good idea of the # needed to enter.
I've been wondering though if the newer black keless pads would work say off of an sho or explorer?
Anybody tried one?
