can you put a turbo off of a tc on an 87 v6, will the block hold the extra pressure?

No. they throw head gaskets like nobody's business stock. A 3.8 wouldn't be a good choice unless you threw a 4.0 in. I would also look into the copper ring head gaskets if you were serious...

You wouldn't want to run more then 5 to 6 psi on a stock motor, and thats for a v-8. Anything over that, you would prolly want hardened internalls. The closest thing I know of is a guy that put a deseil turbo on a v-6 mustang.

id use the connections off of the tc header and weld them to my v6 on the side that i could make room for it and then just run the pipes and connect the intercooler and connect it to the throttle body.

There are so  many things wrong with this idea, it's hard to say where to start.

First, the early non-SC 3.8 is not going to hold up to any kind of boosting..at least not for very long.

Secondly, since you never said what year "TC" you are talking about...and contrary to what you might think...they are not all the same.  Regardless of that fact, a single Garret T3 from the earlier TC's will not even come close to being big enough for a 3.8 (if it was even able to handle it) and the IHI turbo from the later TC's is even smaller.

Clean answer?

you could always throw two turbo's on each side. And get a newer supercoupe block. It should already be built to handle boost and you'll prolly want a new motor to mock it up on anyways...

so, if i got a newer block would i be able to use all my original parts on the newer block? cause mine is cfi and i dont really want to change all the wiring for port injection

Just swap in a 5.0.

It ain't gonna happen, forget CFI even exists if you're serious about applying boost...

The easiest, most reliable, and least hassling way to get more power and torque in your car is to swap to a 5.0, preferably an HO version.
If you can wire up a stereo, then you can swap harness's and EEC's.

If you have a hard on for a forced induction 3.8, then go with as new of a SC engine as you can possibly find, there's a member here that did it, but it's involved :D

ok sounds like i just need to put in a 5.0, i have three cars the v6, tc, and an 88 xr7, but the xr7 has 255,000 and the v6 only has 73,000 and the tc has 175,000 on it so i was just tring to avoid rebuilding the 5.0, but thanks for the info

5.0 or 2.3 would be the way to go. The 3.8 can be built, for alot of money though. Check out http://www.moranav6racing.com/ if you got alot of cash. If not, do a 87-93 mustang swap on the 88 xr7. Thats the perfect starter car to begin with.

i would have started on the xr7 already but the body and susp. need to be rebuilt also, the body has A LOT of rust issues and the susp. is really bad, but thats what indiana winters do to cars

you could boost a v6 right after you buy a head gasket set so when it does blow your ready to rebuild the head gasket. also the v6 will handle 6psi tops. if you dont want to find a supercoupe engine go get a cheap 4.2 liter engine out of a f150 and you boost all day long with no blown headgaskets.
