Stock S.O parts September 04, 2008, 12:55:47 AM I need the whole stock s.o. top end. Preferably from a running or did run car.I have been dealing with many top end issues, and the only thing I can figure is that I must have something wrong with my top end. Since I am using my stock top end on a new motor, I have nothing to compare them to. Im not too worried about the heads themselves, due to shipping cost actually. Im located in West Valley city utah, And open to almost any offers.I am especially interested in the push rods and roller lifters for a 86+ 5.0. Quote Selected

Stock S.O parts Reply #7 – September 04, 2008, 10:12:33 PM Right now I have a stock v-6 tranny. The tranny going out would cost more then a new motor. I have a new engine and threw stock parts on top of it. I have 2 weeks to get the car done and dont want to throw in a h.o. yet. That I could do in a weekend. Getting the car running right would cost alot less then going h.o. right now.I swapped out everything in the motor and bought new parts except for the heads cam and lifters. The heads look brand new and there were all new gaskets on the top end of the motor. The cam has some scaring on it and seems like it has a couple of flat spots in it. The lifters also do not seem to function completely. I tried everything I could think of and others I talked to and I still cant get it to run right. It is timed correctly, I pulled the dist. out and turned it around 180 just incase and the car has no power. Seriously, in a 1/4 mile I might hit 45mph.....Maybe. I ran a compression check and everything appears okay. I cant remember what the numbers were right now, but they were all within 5 of each other. When I loosen the bolts on the rockers(adjusting my lash I guess?) I get alot more power, but the top end makes alot of noise. I cannot get it adjusted so that the rockers will stay put without seriously bogging down the motor. So I switched out the bolts for allthread and adjusted every rocker one at a time until they made little noise and didn't have alot of play in them while the car was running. Im still getting no where. The car was about to spin a bearing. When I bought the car the hood was stuck shut. I had to break open the hood with a crow bar and when I checked the oil it was 4 quarts low. I am assuming that the entire stock end is shot, and I have nothing to compare them to. Quote Selected
Stock S.O parts Reply #8 – September 04, 2008, 10:18:25 PM kitsdnm, I'm looking for the stock cam, lifters, possibly push rods, and possibly heads. Right now I'm mostly interested in the cam and lifters. As far as I can tell, the push rods seem to be fine. Quote Selected
