Rant August 30, 2008, 03:03:19 PM So, the Cougar got towed...My manager at Sear's told me I need to get it out of there, yea that's fine, but the as$ had them tow it two nights ago without giving me a warning of anysuch. I'm so pissed...I just called the yard and they want $227 to get her out today, $20 more every day...I don't know what to do, I'm in the middle of jobs, and have maybe $10 to my name at the moment... Rant Reply #1 – August 30, 2008, 05:49:53 PM Your BOSS had your car towed? There's some work motivation right there.....What a tool. Superisors never realized how much they have to depend on the workers until the worker makes them realize it.Sounds like it's time to make him realize.....If I'm reading into this correctly; it also sounds as if he did not tell when exactly he wanted it out of there. Is this correct? Quote Selected

Is this correct?Yes sir, perfectly correct...I may have someone to pick her up tomorrow.I will only wind up with having $150 after getting her out of the yard, but since she would be going to an acquaintence, I know i would be able to keep up with her instead of her meeting her demise at the shredder. This really gets me down, This is the 2nd project in a row I haven't been able to finish. The 1st was because of my father and well, this kinda can be traced back that way too. If only he had let me keep her at the house, theres nowhere for me to put her at my moms, but my dad has room in the backyard...First project was my 85 z28, i yanked the 305 and 700-r4 and was going to a 383/th350 setup. I had just got the block back from the machine shop, line-bored, and clearanced for the stroker crank, when I had to get rid of the car... Quote Selected

Rant Reply #5 – August 31, 2008, 05:49:11 AM I'd just figure out which impound yard and bust it out. I've lost to many cars in a lot better shape then I should have let go. Its legally your property. As long as you dont get caught... Several times I had my car towed while I wasn't doing anything wrong, breaking any laws, or even g anyone off. Seems a car with a picture frame duct tapped over the back broken window means its abandoned and doesn't run. Even if you go to the impound yard and figure out why it was towed, you still have to pay them.I got one car towed because I didn't have proof of insurance inside of the car while it was parked outside of my house in my driveway. I ran inside to get it, and when I came back the tow truck pulled out with my car. I jumped in my dads car and followed them to the tow yard and showed them my insurance card. They told me I had to get something from the dmv saying that I could take it back and that I still had to pay $350 dollars for them to drive it less then 2 miles and pay $45 a day for storage. It was also just after noon on a saturday with a three day weekend without the dmv being open.I went back to talk to the dmv the next tuesday, and they said my plate was revoked due to no insurance, and that I would have to bring in proof of insurance and pay my taxes(For the third time that year) and get a temporary plate then they could get me the release for my car.I went back to the tow truck place, paid $600(For a $110 dollar car none the less) and gave them the paperwork the dmv gave me(Saying what I needed not that it was released...) before they realized what it was, they pulled my car out and called me over to give them my other paper work or I couldn't leave. I walked out the front door and walked right to my car, hopped in shot out to the gravel road and threw gravel at them for about 5 minutes doing doughnuts then drove my car home. Didn't hear a thing about it after that.About a week later my car overheated and died right down the street from my house so I pulled it into a church parking lot. I walked to auto zone and got a new radiator and water pump, threw them in the car and called it a night. When I went to work the next day my car was towed by the same people, and this time they left a note on my front door saying I owed them $1200 or the title to the car. That was two years ago. I got a letter about two months ago saying I owed them $13000 for storage fee's or the title. The title is in the glove box. Quote Selected
Rant Reply #6 – August 31, 2008, 03:31:04 PM Some of you guys really amaze me."My manager at Sear's told me I need to get it out of there,"then get it the hell out of there, your work is not a storage facility for broken cars."without giving me a warning"lol what the hell is "need to get it out of there" ? And you did that all in one sentence, truly amazing! And then more blame.."This is the 2nd project in a row I haven't been able to finish. The 1st was because of my father and well"Are you kidding me! Your dad's fault? how about stop buying cars and tearing them apart in your dad's yard. he has the total right to NOT want torn apart in cars his yard. How about they are YOUR fault because you want to have project cars at other peoples expense? Possibly , just Possibly if you wait for the 'project's" until you had a secure (meaning you are sure you will have the rent money for it the next month or SIX) where you arent imposing on your father or SEAS parking lot's then you wouldent have these problems.Grow Up! The manager did not tell me that I need to get it out of there, he told an employee(of no management sorts) to tell me, my apologizes for not explaining. 2. Yes, that may be a warning, but how about being courteous and giving me a ring before the tow company was called, he knows how my situation is/was. 3. I completely agree with you on the storage facility part, but with permission from management, security and 2 others doing the same, I don't see a problem with it.Now, with the whole dad ordeal. Why don't you get off my back and dont get into it? There's a long story about what happened. Short version: Me and my mom were living there, car was in the backyard, under a car cover. The divorce went through and my father bought out the house. Now, what makes you think I didn't have money for rent or the such? I don't see how you assume this...I never relied on anyone for my projects. I was allowed to keep my 1st there, then, like I said, the divorce happened and my dad didn't want it there. With the Cougar, I didn't rely on other people, it simply made it more affordable to bring it to Sears, I could have left it in my storage unit, I was able to pay it. Quote Selected
