Why is it so freaking hard to... March 12, 2005, 11:05:15 PM Get the bolts for the rear seat off? I was going to get my subs set up the way I wanted them and figured it would be easy to take the rear seat off. WRONG! I torqed like mad on those torx bolts and couldn't get them to budge. I even put the bar from my floor jack on the end of the ratchet and still nothing. Do I need air tools or what? Quote Selected
Re: Why is it so freaking hard to... Reply #1 – March 12, 2005, 11:33:22 PM If you look under the car, you can see where the bolts come through. They have a tendency to get a little rusty. Spray 'em down with penetrating oil and keep working them. Careful though, I busted a couple of torx bits and about hit my head on the back window when they gave! I was really leaning into them with a breaker bar. Quote Selected
Re: Why is it so freaking hard to... Reply #2 – March 12, 2005, 11:46:50 PM yeah 3 cars so far and they'v all been a pain in the ass. i like to strip the interior and clean em good before i start driving them, and those bolts suck. i usualy hit em with lube and a punch. Quote Selected
Re: Why is it so freaking hard to... Reply #3 – March 13, 2005, 12:37:22 AM Some are just impossible. I've cut 3 bolts so far, I still hafta drill out one of them so I can reinstall the seat belts... Quote Selected
Re: Why is it so freaking hard to... Reply #4 – March 13, 2005, 09:00:04 AM When we run into the really stubborn torx bolts back there, we clip the bottom of the seat bracket off. The seat still stays in place, and you save yourself bodily injury. :D Quote Selected
Re: Why is it so freaking hard to... Reply #5 – March 13, 2005, 12:55:20 PM if you get em out, buy some anti-seize, that helps a lot Quote Selected

Reply #6 – March 13, 2005, 03:55:20 PM I'm sure you don't have access to a torch but heating the metal around them while having somebody try to work it loose from the top is the best way.O and having a bucket of water in there is always a good idea just in case you make things a little to warm Quote Selected
