transmission problems

okay just recently, like last night when i was driving the car i was accelerating from 35mph to 55mph and like as soon as it shifted from i think 2nd to 3rd it was like the car just wanted to wind out and not grab. the people that i bought the car from said that the trans was just rebuilt a couple years ago, so if this is true, i dont see why this would be anything major. could this just be something like the tv cable? i hope its nothing major because i dont have the money to fix it

TV cable grommet, keep playing around(driving) with it, and you'll be having it rebuilt again...

i just put a new grommet on it cuz the old one split and the cable came undone from the throttle cable linkage thing on the throttle body. now that i think about it i dont know how it could be the tv cable because when i was accelerating it was like the motor was winding out but the car wasnt accelerating until i let off and got back into it

May be too late then, you've probably already burned the clutches...

How does the fluid look???

the fluid looks fine to me. it looks and smells like atf should. i think it just does this under light to moderate acceleration because if im driving it hard it doesnt do it i dont think. or at least i havent noticed it

will a c4 bolt into this car and would there be any advantage to having one? im just thinking or the worst case scenario and the transmission goes out and i have to replace it. i have seen mustangs that they get rid of the stock aod and replace it with a c4, but i didnt know if there was really an advantage to that or not, but if there is and my tranny goes out and a c4 will bolt in i will put one in it

Do a proper adjustment of the TV cable, from what you say it's too long...

There are pages written about the procedure, but here's how I do it....Block the throttle open and adj the cable as short as possible... If it shifts too late/hard at light throttle, lengthen it a bit...

After you adjust the cable properly, drive it again, if it is still doing it, and the fluid is not burnt, you might be looking at a broken input shaft.  When they break, you no longer have 3rd or 4th.

last night before i went to bed i looked at it and did notice that where the tv cable slides into the grommet on the throttle body, it was not all the way in so when the throttle was being open it could move around slightly, so i pushed it all the way in. it doesnt do it now under normal acceleration, but under full throttle from first to second the motor just revs out til it stops revving basically and then i gotta let up on it to get it to shift. which way on the tv cable do i adjust it to fix this?
