1978 granada Reply #3 – May 28, 2008, 06:05:23 PM A buddy of mine YEARS ago had one...pretty basic.It's nickname? The Basic-Mobile.And if you're wondering, no it's not a Fox-chassied car. Quote Selected
1978 granada Reply #4 – May 28, 2008, 06:25:38 PM A friend had a '77 that was 250 I6 and 4 speed...Those transmissions are patterned after the top loaders, but were re-designed for this application(If I remember correctly thy have an aluminum case)... Third gear is overdriven, so the linkage is reversed on the shifter(actually the 3-4 shift lever flipped upside down on the transmission)... When compared to a older top loader, actual shifter movement through the gears is 1-2-4-3(OD)As far as chassis, they are similar to the Maverick and the '71-earlier unibody Torinos & Fairlanes...I had a '75 with the 250 & C4, fortunately the ex-wife got it... It was tough though, finally at 193K mi it kicked a rod out the side of the block... Quote Selected

I'd be willing to bet only the 351 cars had the 9" with drum brakes... As best I remember, only ever saw one with the 351, were rather rare with that option... Don't think it was continued past '76... The 9" may have been used with the rear disc brake option(same one std on the Lincoln Versailles)... Was a popular swap some years back to gain a stout rear and the DB... In '81 the Granada & Monarch were moved to the Fox platform and were basically rehashed Fairmonts... At that point the 8" & 9" rears were axed in favor of the mighty 7.5"... Quote Selected

Have the rotors, spindle and lower control arms... Not sure if the calipers are still there, but I believe so... Quote Selected
