Going to look at a t5, clutch, etc May 27, 2008, 03:56:00 PM My question is, how thick is a new clutch plate? I need to gauge how much life is left on this clutch.Any thoughts on what to look for when looking at this stuff? Quote Selected
Going to look at a t5, clutch, etc Reply #1 – May 27, 2008, 05:49:31 PM Hmm... not sure. Ive got an extra I can measure tonight. Its slightly used but in good shape. I had a used cobra clutch that I installed instead. I've also got a matching used pressure plate if you need any measurements from that. For the T5, I checked that it went into gear smoothly. Checked the left right play while in gear. There wasn't alot I could test because it was already out of the car. I do know to inspect the input shaft closely. Look for twisting on the input splines. They should be straight. Look for excessive wear on the front bearing retainer and where the pilot rides. They sell replacements that are steel. Also, know how to identify a World Class T5. The WC is what you want. There may not be a tag on the unit (there wasn't on mine) but you can tell by the front of the case.ID Tagshttp://www.britishv8.org/Articles/Borg-Warner-T5-ID-Tags.htm-DZ Quote Selected
