5.0L V8 Price? March 02, 2005, 02:16:35 PM I have a 1985 Cougar that's going downhill fast. It has a replaced V8 engine that is still in excellent condition, but the tranny is going out along with the dash lights and the heater core is shot. I am looking to sell the engine. I am wondering what kind of price I could get for the engine and would it be better to sell the engine with the car, or sell the engine alone and s the rest of the car. Thanks for any input or suggestions. Quote Selected

Re: 5.0L V8 Price? Reply #5 – March 03, 2005, 03:59:26 AM ska is kinda like punk......its where the bass plays lead and the guitar is only for back up. the guitar is usally higher simple chords(not full cords, I guess they could be power chords)played fast , kinda cheery, aswell as loud and offensive. the chords are always struck upwards, with muted downstrokes, and is really simple. Its also can be played with horns, such as trumpets. Quote Selected

Re: 5.0L V8 Price? Reply #8 – March 03, 2005, 10:48:08 AM id expect to pay 300 too 500 for a god running decent condition 5.0 HO from the street or a little more from the JY (they are s in my area) and thats if they have them. most of the fox stuff has fallen off of the rader in the salvage yards in my area.for an SO id say no more than 300if the engine has been recently rebuilt, depending if there is proof and if it was done professionally, up to maybe 100 for a 5.0 HO. me, no more than 700.anything upgraded or modified is a little tougher. cost will depend on the mods obviously. on the outside you can see what you are getting but you never know whats on the inside or how the engine was used. it helps too find one thats still in a car and can be heard cold started and run as specially at operating temp.... Re: 5.0L V8 Price? Reply #9 – March 03, 2005, 10:50:55 AM SKA: You could most likely get around 500 or so for the motor, perhaps more depending on where you live. If you could tell us a little more about the car the motor is in it would be easier to give you a ball park figure on that as well.SeaneF26: Do you mean Factory new, refubished new or just new as in different from the one you have now? Re: 5.0L V8 Price? Reply #13 – March 04, 2005, 12:19:24 PM Paul - I'm thinking a refurbished one or low mileage used one. I have a lot of steam coming out of my oil filler. Think the piston rings are shot. Instead of putting more money into this engine, might as well just replace it. Don't want to spend a ton on it, tho. If I can get an engine that will give me a couple good years that's fine. Have any recommendations? Quote Selected
Re: 5.0L V8 Price? Reply #14 – March 04, 2005, 12:35:45 PM these prices are about the going rates for rebuilt motors:http://www.actionsalvage.com/enginesford.aspScroll down and you'll notice that the HO is actually a almost identical in price tothe SO (VIN cod E/T as opposed to F). The higher priced SO shown is a propane setup. Quote Selected
