332('58 & '59) and 406('62 & early '63)... 427s came in low riser('63), medium riser('65), and high riser('64)(refers to intake port size) as well as tunnel port and over head cammer versions. Side oiler just referes to the revised oiling system introduced on the '65 medium riser and later 427s. '63 to early '65 427s were center oilers like all the other FE engines.

my Dad is a fan of shelby. He is also really big on (excuse the spelling) andiy granatellie(Wow I suck). He didnt even know that there was a cobra with a 427. I was playing test drive 6 and I showed him my cobra, and he said ford never made a 427. He thought that they all had 428's and that it was a misprint.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

far as I know, '99 Lightnings had (factory #s, btw) 385 hp, 440lb-feet torque...Chevy's 302 was a destroked 327, I think it may have had a 305 crank, someone here will know for sure, it was made for the Trans-Am Series, as was the Boss 302 Mustangs in '69 and '70...

Yes the Z28 302 was a destroked 327, but when it was built('67-'69), the 305 was still 7 years in the future(1976). The Chevy 302 used a 3" crank(same stroke as the Ford 302), it was borrowed from the 283 which had less bore size.

Btw the 305 uses the same 3.48" stroke as a 350, but has a tiny bore...
