84 Cougar, 8K Miles

But...

Mmmm....yeeahhhhh...I'm going to have to go ahead and sort of, disagree with some of the "accessories" there...

This guy e-mailed me last week about the car. He didn't mention the 22" rims, or the woodgrain steering wheel, or whatever those things are that are stuck all over the sides of the car.

Those "things stuck on the sides" are *DUB* emblems. I bet the car looks great with the 22" wheels gone. Hell I bet you could buy the car for $9,000 and sell the wheels for $7,000 and get yourself a nice 8,000 mile cougar for $2,000 :D

It is a 5 digit plus tenths odometer is it not?  It certainly looks that way from the pics.

No way it's 8000 miles.  Engine compartment is filthy with paint missing.  Rust on the shock towers.  Battery corrosion is so bad it got on the intake filter hose.  Seats faded and radio missing.

Unless that was an extremely hard 8000.  I'm going to write the lister.

Eric!  Mystery time!  No hood pinstripes?

Hood stripes were an option on GS models in 1984, standard on the LS. It's very possible, though, that it has been repainted (it is a Florida car), although the owner has assured me it hasn't been.

Also keep in mind that the "toupée" on the dash cover screams, "My dash pad is cracked from the Florida sun but I haven't cared enough to find a suitable replacement, so for now I'll just stick this indoor/outdoor carpet on top and hope that nobody notices."

Busted. ;)

I'm going to guess it was a rather reckless 8000. Look at the end result. That doesn't come from logical thinking. ;)

Jeez, if you're gonna install 22" wheels, at least choose decent looking ones. Those ones look like somebody chromed a set of Hummer temporary spares (if such things exist).

My 65k mile 88 T-Bird is in much better shape inside and out (even before the repaint), and that's after spending 20 years in Nova Scotia...
