Right on!  I'll tackle this sucker as soon as I can afford to take some free time.  Thanks for the info, I bet you spent a lot of time tinkering with CFI to figure all this stuff out.

*edit*

Are you sure that the V8 throttle body barrels are any larger than the V6?  I haven't taken the one off of my 3.8 yet, but the castings on the two look identical and everything is in the same place.  I won't really know about the size of the barrels until I take the other one off.

I also have a pic of the egr base gasket that eliminates the egr and the carbon buildup.

I'd like to chuck the egr, can you post the picture of the gasket you were talking about?  Is it a delete plate kind of thing similar to a spacer on a carb setup?

when you remove the lower aluminum plate that holds the egr,, you will see the old gasket.  In addition,, go to a parts store and have a look see at a new one.

now compare what the store has to this one.  Make your own out of just about any material you think will hold up. Mine is made of "fish paper".  sounds wierd but its good stuff  used in the telecommunications industry.  Jus bout any tough material will do.

all you do is cut out the new gasket just like the picture is below.
next, remove the egr,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ummmm i better stop.  theres alot to it when it comes to the smog/green vac line delete.

whats your email.?  then you'll have all the info i got on this and other topics.

Quite frankly, you couldn't just bolt it on without serious reprocussions.  You NEED to rebuild the bottom end before even attempting this and I'm not even sure it will work then.  An aftermarket blower may be a better solution in that case.

blowers are out there,, look at the SC 3.8L engine.  bolting on the blower and getting the air to divert using a vac reference it typical.

now that you have more air, you need more fuel (extra larger injector
mounted in the blower tube ignites at a specific point)
now that you have more air and more fuel you dont presently have a large enough path from your CFI, inake, valves or exhaust to support it.

if you are just thinking about it right now,, include a 4.2L crank/rods/pistons in the build.  They are a direct bolt on upgrade. Next you would flow your heads better and add some roller lifters and rockers.  next would be roller rockers and lifters and tune the fuel presure reg to the new cubic inch setup.  Add the blower next from a s yard 3.8sc.

the 3.8 as it sits wont tolerate much more air or fuel as it sits.  The only quickest thing i can think of is to add a 5.0 cfi that breaths better, delete a bunch of emission stuff ect ect ect.

A lot of great info in this thread.  Any chance of mayhaps making it a STICKY?

Second, on the sticky.

My engine is carbed so would that complicate things in adding a blower? and btw what would removing the converters do for more hp?

Well I would think it would be real hard to use a factory MN-12 blower with a carbed setup.  Probably could be done, but some fabrication would be involved.

would it be wise to put a better carb on if i were to put the blower on say maybe a 350cfm and when you say the 5.0 cfi upgrade is that a bolt on or is it more invovled than just tightening some screws??(im a newbie to upgrades so i dont want to get in to far over my head and have parts lying around)

actually , with a carb, it makes it all the easier.  My thoughts at first by your name indicated you only had two injectors.  Trust me, i almost went a whole lot deeper into my reply but without sefi injection, i did not.

question to someone,,,,,,, anyone,,,,,,,,,,,,,, do the six cyl sefi injectors fire once every go around like the v8's or do they fire in pairs like on the 4 cyl?,,, i need to know and i dont have a schematic of the 88sefi.

but yeah, with a carb , your at liberty to fool with air and fuel ratios easier,, imho.
maybe check out fordmuscle in the tech article where they home brewed a blower setup on an older carb'd engine.  pretty simple application for the most part.

yep,, but you end up using a regular wratchet and socket to get em quite.  remember you have several years of wear , tear, heating , cooling ect ect and torque value or no torque value, ive never been able to once use a torque wrench as a stand alone tool to get em quiet.  i think its about 20 or so ft/bs.,, could look it up but oh well.

as for the info,,

there happens to be a thread here under the

archived threads,,,
go to the last page and click  "this link" where masterblaster mentions.
this contains some history but there is a treasure chest in there with stuff you may have not come across here yet cause its still growing.

within that is the content of our old coolcats site and there happens to be some more info you might be interested in started by aimee., now called trickflow347.
