What would you charge for this? February 20, 2005, 04:17:44 PM Well, it looks like I have to sell my 351W. I need the money right now more than I need a second V8. I'm just not sure what to ask for it, and I have a possible local buyer. The story of the engine is that it originally came from an '87 van used mainly by some middle-aged couple that drove all over Florida taking stuff to flea markets.. but somewhere around '97 it ped out. From what I understand, and the source is very reliable to me, they essentially stuck a new engine (block and heads) underneath the (carbed) intake. It racked up about 6000 more miles before it was yanked (still worked at the time) and put into storage. Any further details on it and I'd have to drive over to the house of the friend holding it, or give him another call. I got the engine out of the deal to get my first T-bird. For my '94 Escort LX, I got the T-bird, (credited at $700) the 351W (credited as $400), and $100 in cash. Am I foolish to hope for that $400 back out of it, or am I underestimating the value of the engine? I really don't wanna get rid of the engine.. but I need the cash and some Mustang guy apparently wants the 351. I told myself that I'd allow it to be sold, but only if I promised myself I'd get a replacement at some point, when I had more disposable income. Until then, the 5.0 SO will have to suffice.. bad rings and all.Any feedback on this would be appreciated. Hopefully this'll be the first step to getting back on our feet in this house.
