abreaviations

ok just wondering what some of these stand for,...

the TE in E-7te heads
the sn in SN-95
the mn in MN-12
the  first 2 letters in the lincon mark 8 body... i forget but i know its not mn-12

and any others anybody might think up.

Each digit in a Ford part/casting no. has a meaning. Unfortunatly I don't remember exactly what they are or where I saw how to decode them..

But for the E7TEs I think this is correct...

First digit decade E= '80s

Second is year  in the decade(7)

Third is vehicle line (T= truck)(others are S= Tbird, A= Full size, Z= Mustang etc.). This will change as car lines are phased out and new ones added, have to refer back to decade.

Fourth is division  (E= engine)(others are chassis, body, electrical, etc. but I don't remember the corresponding codes)

So the E6SE heads = '80s, 6, Tbird, Engine

My C8OE 428 Cobra Jet heads = '60s, 8, Fairlane, Engine

I believe the GT40 Iron heads I had were cast F1ZE = '90s 1, Mustang, Engine.

this will help with part number.  http://www.wantabe.com/hdrace/dfrdpt.htm

There are also engineering numbers, which are what you sometimes see  on a physical part.  I have no ideas about body designations etc.
